As long as they recycle the old oil I figure it's their dime.....

Exactly. No need to throw stones at the guy over OIL. Speaking of oil, I was very upset when I went back to the oil section at wally world and saw that everything went up in prices! My oil stash is running out so I have to purchase oil again. I would like to try the MC 5w-20 blend but my car is spec to 5w-30. Idk if that would hurt anything. My choices for my next oc will be MC 5000, YB, or Maxlife.

I know what you mean! Used to get MC5000 for 9.00/5qt now 11.00, Maxlife up 3.00, PP up 4.00. Still seems like a good deal though compared to the auto chain store prices.

Read this jokers post on the Yaris forum about 10 posts down........http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9007 Says there he is planning on 3K mile OCI because he is obsessive.

How about your Tranny, Diff, PS Fluid....? How frequently do you change those...??

On the Yaris, the manual transmission oil is also the Dif oil. I have 16,000 miles and have changed it once, but just to switch from Toyota's tranny oil to Red Line synthetic, and noticed a huge difference fo the better in shifting and reverse clunk. I think as I understand it I only have to change that about every 60,000 miles. As for the radiator, I have brand new fluid in it and it is long life. Toyota says every 100,000 miles.

LOL. What does Toyota say about oil changes? If everyone on the road followed your dogma...man.

No offense, but if you really aren't trolling, then your posts say this about you:

1. You are ignorant. (Simply changing oil based on your obsessive compulsive disorder)
2. You are selfish. (For wasting and going through so much of a precious resource.)

Follow Toyota's recommendations, for God's sake.

He was not the hacker, but knows the hacker and relayed the message to the board that the hacker may hack the site again.

One thing about having OCD, these type of people are usually obsessed with having their hands clean and washing them 50 times a day. So how does that fit with getting dirty oil on your hands? hmmm

Walmart oil/filter isles will be filled with guys reading the backs of different oil bottles for hours, constantly calling home to the wife to see if bitog is back online yet.....

LOL!

Or wandering our driveways and oil stash shelves.

We'll all be back here with "BITOG was down, so I had to change my oil...even though I just changed it last weekend..."

re possible troll:

My take is so far that everyone is on guard for trolls (and rightly so!), but for new members it can't hurt to be a bit patient and give them a little benefit of the doubt. :2cents:

At the same time this post quoted below is interesting, was this posted earlier in this thread already?

"Caveatipse Paranoia and new members

I know the guy's a pest, believe me, but now it seems every new member who asks a pretty basic question gets hounded for it and thought to be his next incarnation. That's not very welcoming, and what made this place great before was how we welcomed everyone, helped them through their questions, as basic as they may feel to us. That's gone down the [censored] now.

So please, if you have your doubts about a new member, inform myself or a fellow moderator and we'll look into it, we have much better tools to know for sure, and he'll be banned again before you know it.

So let's all be welcoming, tolerant and helpful, ok?"

He didn't ask a question. He assertively tells us he changes his oil every 1,000 miles because he wants his engine to last a long time.

A basic question would be: hello, I'm changing my oil every 1,000 miles with the belief it will extend engine life. Is this excessive?

Oh my God dude lol get over it. My question was answered and now I am all the wiser. No need to stalk me, cite references, and give me a polygraph test LOL. Just drop it.
