Which Mobil 1 5W-30 oil?

I just bought a new 2024 Ford F-250 XL 4x4 with the 6.8L V8 gas engine (A code). I'm going to do my first oil and filter change at 1,000 miles, then again at 5,000 miles and then every 5,000 miles after that.

I was on Mobil 1's website, and they have three different non-high milage 5W-30 oils for it. Should I use the Truck & SUV oil, or does it really matter? I'd like to select an oil and filter brand/type and stick with it every time.

Mobil 1 5W-30 Advanced Full Synthetic Engine Oil.
Mobil 1 5W-30 Truck & SUV Oil.
Mobil 1 5W-30 Extended Performance Oil.

Plain Jane M1 5w30 if your only doing 5k.

The benefit of sticking with the basic Mobil 1 5w30 is that you will have an easier time finding that in the stores compared to the other choices.

Like others said, for 5,000 mile intervals, no problem with regular Mobil1. I’m now using Mobil1 5W30 EP for longer intervals. I feel as if Mobil1 has a pretty extensive and impressive oil lineup throughout their brand.

If he's shopping at Costco I would just grab Kirkland synthetic on sale for $29 for two 5 quart jugs. At 5K interval, that engine won't notice the difference.

It’s been easy to find around me and is the same price as Mobil 1 vanilla. You can order it from Walmart or Amazon if you can’t find it nearby. Does Truck and SUV make a difference? I have no idea. But they claim that it’s better for towing applications. Really there are no bad Mobil 1 options. They will all work great. I run vanilla Mobil 1 in my wife’s traverse.

Yeah, our local Walmart has Mobil 1 and Valvoline synthetic oils for under $30 per 5-quart jug. They have Mobil 1 oil filters for $11.44 as well.

I was thinking about using Valvoline Advanced synthetic oil, which I think is their "regular/basic" synthetic oil. I saw a few things that mentioned it was only good for 4,000 miles though. I have no idea if that's true or not. Like Mobil 1, Valvoline is really common in my area.

Do not overthink it. Pick whatever brand you like in the correct viscosity grade and meeting whatever Ford spec in your owners manual.

for a few bucks more per change: my default is EP HM versions of oils. better additive pack. M1 EP HM 5w-30 is about the only non euro oil i will run from Mobil.

For 5K miles, the cheapest M1 that carries the Ford approval. It won't make any difference. Me, I would run the M1 0W-40 and call it an OCI after 15K.

For a new vehicle , I would think the non - high mileage of the EP version would be fine .
