BMW LL04 and LL12FE in Australia with high sulphur content in fuel?

I only take to the workshop for the 15,000 km service and do a mid service with one of these:
https://sydneytools.com.au/product/daytona-dfe65-65l-manual-fluid-extractor
Takes about 10 minutes to do a change without filter.
I would caution anyone considering using an oil extractor: Perform a very careful before and after measurements to determine the ability of the extractor to get sufficient quanity of the used oil out of the engine. This ability is very engine specific and they do not universally work on all.

91 or 98 and that’s it. I use Costco (Mobil) 98, Tash BP Ultimate 98 as instructed by her shop/tuner.
My wife has a Subaru with the EZ30D engine which is quite picky with fuels. I've found the following over the last 6 years:
United/Liberty Puma 98 - detonates, gets fouled injectors.
Ampol 98, runs fine but slowly gets fouled injectors.
BP Ultimate, runs fine and doesn't seem to foul injectors.

Still use a cleaner containing PEA, last tank before every oil change.

Yeah OP cannot use one because B58 doesn't have a dip stick.
Doesn't work on Subaru either.

95 isn't readily available. Noticed most places offer e10, 91 and jump straight to 98
Depends where you are I guess - 95 is everywhere here in Tasmania and I never had trouble getting it in Canberra either.

Doesn't surprise me that some retailers would force you to buy 98 though - more sweet sweet price gouging i mean profits.

My mechanic gets his oil through Imparts, as they are the only Australian importers of Ravenol. A lot of local European specialists are now using this oil. I have to wonder if they are aware that the LL04 oils are not supposed to be used in petrol models in our market, or if Imparts has tricked them into thinking it is a superior 'European standard' oil which is why they're using it and recommending it to customers, blissfully unaware that it is anything but superior if used with Australian grade fuel.
I just changed the oil yesterday in my 530i.
The oil I took out was in fine condition if a little dirty for only 1,700 km over 12 months.
From the service records this is what they used:

Just posting for interest sake as it's also a LL04. Kind of impressive specs if you open the link.
Garages probably doing same thing for euros as they do everything else. One size fits all oil which meets as many standards as possible.
What I'm saying is; your garage probably has a 205 L drum of that Ravenol they use for basically every car they service.

The engine was completely happy with this oil. Just at 12 months time to change.
It's now full of Castrol Edge 0W/40 LL01 BMW approval.

No 95 at Costco so it’s 98.
No Costco in Taswegia. No Aldi either :( I suppose if its enough of a discount and you're getting 98 for 95 prices it probably wont hurt. I have heard of some models that dont like 98 (or more accurately they dont like all the proprietary crap that goes into the 98 products) - the Renault ClioSport 3 is one example - they run like crap and dont idle properly when cold especially on any of the 98, but run like a top on 95. And thats a pretty high performance engine with a high compression that conventional wisdom would suggest would like 98!

It's interesting to see a 10w40 synthetic, sort of an old-school weight for dino oil here in the US (the 10w part).

Costco 98 for far less than 91 price anywhere. All four vehicles use 98 exclusively. Two Costco (Mobil), two BP. Probably move the Suzuki SX4 to BP as well.

I'd run like crap too if I was in Tassy right now.

The winter ambient is much warmer here. There just isn't a reason to go down to OW or 5W, so 10W has remained popular.
90% of cars on the road are probably full of 10W40 from a 205 litre drum.

All the E46 BMW’s used 0W-40 in Australia and so many other brands using 0W-20. I wouldn’t use 10W-XX in anything even if free. 0W-30 in my 2005 BA Falcon with 350,000 on it.
