Good afternoon,
I know this is a question that was asked a trillion times in the past but I can't find updated data.
I am looking for data for BMW TPT 5W30 LL01 and 0W30 LL04 as per 2025.
Since 2022 some advances have been achieved in the world of true synthetic oil and the formulas somehow changed ever so slightly.

I only can get the specs from 2017: https://bmw.opentika.ovh/?auto=0&ap...engine=&mileage=0&ocons=0&country=ES&surname=

I am interested in data like HTHS, NOACK, Viscosity at 100 and 40C, Visco index, TBN, etc

Thanks for any help

These are not typically sold by BMW dealerships in the US. One used to be able to special order the LL01 5w30 but I don't know if that's the case any longer. BMW USA moved their fleet away from LL01/LL04 around 10 yrs ago.

Thanks for your response.
Actually, in Europe, they are still using it in all dealerships.
As gasoline is now very low on sulfur ( less than 10ppm), they often use LL04.
The bmw tpt is sourced from Castrol and Shell depending on the region.
But there is no confirmation which package they are using (Castrol 5W30 M ?) and Shell 0W30 ECT?

Some TPT oil has special formulations like old TPT M 0W40.
Current oils in the US are special BMW formulations made by Castrol.

why bother? there are so many oils out there and you wont pay the bigger amount of money bmw tpt costs.
Actually it s the opposite.
In my place BMW TPT 5W30 LL01
is lower in cost to other oils.
- Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 ECT C 3: 12$
- Castrol Edge 5W30: 15$
- Liqui Moly 4200 5W30: 12$
- BMW tpt 5w30: 11$

Ok. Found the update thanks to a fresh oil lab analysis of 2024.

This oil is impressively outstanding indeed.
Yes. It always was, one made by Shell. Both LL01 and LL04. I think LL04 has Noack 6.2%.

This oil comes in third place after Redline and ravenol which are ester/pao based.
Bmw tpt 0W30 ll04 has a Noack of 8.5%.

For 5W30 ll04 i dont know yet. 6.2 seems crazy for a low saps gtl oil. Let me check.

Actually the base is different between Germany and USA.
Just like Shell HU made in Germany and Pennzoil Ultra.P made in USA.

Correct. Thanks for your input.
I ll update if I find anything else on the subject 👍

I wish I could.
The astonishing Ravenol RSP and VMP are not accessible in my place.
They have so far the best mid-saps 5W30 alongside Redline.
Heavy Ester/Pao blends.

2 questions:
1) if i am not wrong you said you live in europe. where in europe can you find 5-30 ll01 that bmw provides now? i thought this one was replaced by ll04 everywhere in europe . i dont know what bmw ises in certain countries that are exceptions on fuel with full sulphur, maybe there i guess.
2) do you have a castrol bmw tpt 5-30 oil lab analysis ? i thought castrol provides everywhere in europe.is this shell -bmw batch a new one if you can tell or an old one, stock?

Due to work, I switch places between Europe (France mainly), UAE and North Africa.
In Europe almost all dealerships adopted the 0W30 LL04 as fuels have less than 10ppm of Sulfur due to EURO6 emissions standard.
In UAE and NA, TPT LL01 is still recommended for petrol engines as Gasoline in some stations do not comply with the Euro6 and they don t reveal the amount of sulfur.
However they all offer 0w30 ll04 for Diesels as all Stations supply Diesel with less than 10ppm of sulfur.
No I dont have anything of Castrol as I don t use it (Due to the huge amount of fakes), but on paper it looks as good as Shell. Castrol 0W30 oils look even better. BMW today is using both Castrol and Shell as oil providers depending on the region and market.
The TPT sold in Europe and north Africa today is definitely Shell.
The batch is the one from end of 2024 and beginning of 2025.
It s Shell Helix Ultra 5W30 LL01 with slight modifications requested by bmw.
I ll post the lab analysis of tptLL01 I found when I get back home after the weekend.

in south europe/balkans where i work now ,the dealership provides tpt 5-30 c3 .
on another topic there were info that bmw anounced that tpt will be privided by castrol this year as par with the US.
but there were also info that shell will also be a provider in europe still along with asia, but in european countries also in 5-30 c3.
its so strange to me that germany a european country doesnt comply with euro6 c3 oils for gas engines.
i guess something changed?
