Which USA based oil company to go with?

Maxima makes automotive oils with approvals? I only knew them as MC oils and those are generally well-regarded… hmm

To be fair, HPL and Signature Series don’t have approval’s either (and are tippy top notch oils)

I was gifted some Maxima RS530 and asked Maxima if they had any data on this oil outside of a SDS/PDS. What they communicated back I’ve posted in the VOA section. Very very stout stuff. And great for performance vehicles assuming you don’t burn oil or have an “unrestricted” exhaust. Plus, they are local to me and I like supporting local businesses.

I’d probably trust them even without approvals; HPL & Amsoil have long proven they’re capable and honest without official approvals. I just know that the specialized MC oils that Maxima made their name on are blended quite a bit different than auto oils.

I’ve only got maybe 1000 miles on it so not for a while yet. Probably end of September I’ll send a used sample out. The Fiesta ST really seems to like this stuff, even if it’s pure butt dyno.

For what it’s worth, I don’t fully trust anyone, I did send a virgin sample to OA which I should have the results back very soon. I’m genuinely curious to see the oxidation number they come up with especially since Maxima claims “triple ester”

Mobil, Valvoline, and Chevron are the only big 3 that come to mind.

No need for a gourmet oil in this situation.

Yes to ConcoPhillips. It’s just getting pretty hard to find now aside from Motorcraft oil.

AZ around me usually has it on the shelf, depending on how heavily they’re pushing the M1/SOPUS products relative to Castrol.

If you're looking for Kendall go to petroleumservicecompany.com They seem to have good availability and excellent service. I had a distributor within a hundred miles of me but I did the unpardonable sin of showing up 5 minutes before lunch. Got screwed on price as punishment and will never darken their door again.
