I have a 2016 Range Rover Sport with a 5.0L Supercharged V8. Currently at 61k miles. I am the second owner and original owner average OCI was around 7k miles. Currently using 0W20 oil, whatever my local indy mechanic put in. Currently no known engine issues (knocking on wood). I primarily do short trips 3-4 times/week about 15 miles round trip to work and back. I change oil every year and only put about 3-4k miles on it every year. I live in Maryland and vehicle is garaged every night.

I am looking primarily for an oil that emphasizes cleaning ability and noise reduction. No longer under warranty but JLR spec oil would be ideal but not mandatory. Due to my short OCI's I wonder if a cleaning oil would make any difference at all or if any basic syn oil would suffice. I plan on keeping this vehicle for awhile and want to prevent any sort of sludging or carbon buildup. What are some options I can look at?

You'll get a variety of opinions, of course, but here's what I'd do: run Mobil 1 in the appropriate viscosity, get it out for a good highway run every couple of weeks (bring oil up to temp), and change the oil annually.

The 2.0L engines can sludge up pretty quickly based on a Royal Auto youtube video I saw recently. Customer consistently got oil changed every 7-8K and it was a mess.......

More an engine issue than an oil issue. Still, I would change oil in any Land/Range Rover at 5K.

I would steer you towards VRP 5w30 on somewhat shorter intervals (3k-5k) and then extend the intervals as cut filter inspection reveals no more signficant cleaning is occurring.

Liquimoly JLR spec would be $20 oil changes from FCP Euro using their lifetime warranty process. You can run short OCI.
