Hey All,

I am just hoping to get some opinions on three different oil companies that I am looking at using their oils for my vehicles.

I am looking at Royal Purple, Amsoil and Schaeffers, and would like to get some feedback on what you'd recommend.

I have three cars a new Outback with the 2.4 Turbo, the wife's Rav with 70k miles on it, and my charger rt with 95k miles on it (fun car in 10 years of owning it I've put on 10k miles)

The longer change intervals aren't really a factor to me, call me old fashioned but I still just change every 5k miles. But I would appreciate any guidance on what would be the best overall option.

Personally, especially if you're doing 5k OCI's, paying for a "Boutique" oil is a total waste of money. A good, well rated easily available premium oil from Mobil1, Pennsoil or Castrol will serve you well. I've been a Mobil1 fan for 35+ years without a single oil-related problem. I think, based on testing available to me and experience of people here on this forum, I trust that Mobil1 EP would be a good choice. Working well for me.

All three companies will have a useful product for your vehicles. You can also buy great oils, for a lot less, at Walmart.
Yeah I know, I just feel like want to support the smaller companies even if it costs a few more bucks. There is just to much consolidation it seems like a few companies are gobbling up other companies.

Tell us you have no clue while not telling us you have no clue.

If you're going to change it every 5,000 miles, in those vehicles, then, just about anything will work, I would think.

Why an American company? Is this about the best oil for your car? Or just supporting an American business? Does the size of the company matter, too? Are you looking for a quality formulation? Or just location? Is customer service a factor for you?

If you help us understand your goals, we might be able to come up with some solid recommendations.

I believe Royal Purple has been bought by a major. Amsoil and Schaeffers are still independently owned US companies that would be great to support!! Top notch performance to boot!
Royal Purple is owned by Calumet, and is a american company,,also both Amsoil and Schaeffers are family owned and operated per say,all produce excellent products, along with many other company's that are based over here of various sizes and capabilities.

Can't believe you haven't lurked here before and have never heard of HPL. I'll make it simple, go to Walmart and get Super Tech. It's a U.S.A product.
