So I've want to buy a $60K electric Kia...

Your symptom screams out for, "Monetary Corrective Therapy". Send your $60K to me.

Seriously: I can't wait for e-vehicle companies to outgrow the "exclusive toy" category and offer vehicles with more normal horsepower levels.
When this happens, range will increase, and they'll sell more.

Oh yes, I know I'm overlooking the few modest e-cars offered and most hybrids.

Instead, the gearbox fries its oil(ATF SP4).

I just can't wait to the see the zombie drone masses destroying their 0-60 in 3 seconds electric cars. And their teenage children.... extra crispy!

The headline achievement is the powertrain. Other dual-motor, all-wheel-drive EV6 models serve up 320 total horsepower; the GT, presumably after downing a can of spinach, is bursting with 576 horses. A new GT mode affords access to the entire thundering herd. Normal and Sport modes limit output to 460 horsepower, and Eco cuts it to 288. The full hit of torque, which has climbed from 446 pound-feet in the all-wheel-drive GT-Line to 545, is always available.

They forgot the valet and responsible parent mode with 150hp.

I'm not at all convinced Kia is the place I would go for an EV. However, I've been wrong before.

My Uber experience with a Kia EV was, quite simply, pathetic. The stated range of over 200 miles turned out to be 61 highway miles. By the time I was dropped off at the airport, the driver was frantic for a charge station. He also explained that the car died the day before and had to be flatbed-towed to a charger. (the charger he went to was inop and he did not have enough to make the next one)

Conversely, my Tesla experiences have all been excellent, with 180 mile highway range and known available chargers.

Have you driven one of these electric rockets? The "right now" acceleration renders ICE vehicles to old skool status. I am a Model 3 Performance buyer when the Highland comes out later next year.

When 1st time drivers drive our Model 3 Mid Range, they ask, "Wow, is this the fast one?" I say, "No, this is the slow one..."

0 to 60 is not very important in real world driving. But merging onto a freeway, lane changing, etc becomes an effortless task. No, it becomes pure joy. The cars just pull hard. I hafta warn drivers, "Watch your speed..." as they flash that $&!)-eatin' grin.

Ummm... I think the other cars look a heck of a lot nicer, the Kia looks like an economy car. It would also be helpful to know how it would do with g-forces on winding roads. I suspect it would fall behind.
Then again, the Kia is in the budget class of the competition.

Trust me, you’ll get tired of the adult PowerWheels®️ real quick. It’s like plugging in your phone, you forget and you’re screwed. My boss had the ev6, drove it for 6 months and then traded it for the bronco. EV’s are so boring.

The only real track comparo I have seen, on a 2 minute track, it trailed a 911 Carrera in lap times by about 1 second. Carrera was running 1:57's and it was running 1:58's as I recall, around the track.

I have yet to be bored of my C40, nor have I had issues with "forgetting to plug it in."

I currently drive a C40, but this thing is on another level.

Highway range was tested at 190 miles at 75mph. Conversely, the MYP was tested at 230mi highway range, so it does give up 40mi of real world highway range in exchange for faster charging and notably better acceleration. It seems like noone read the article in Post #1.
