The month in which spring begins greets us with a band of really nasty winter weather over much of the country.
We are forecast to see temperatures a bit above 0F tomorrow morning here, although the original forecast for really heavy snow appears to have been revised.
We just got back from Cincinnati, about a thirty five mile drive on I-75, where we went to see a play, and road conditions are okay if not great.
We had freezing rain early followed with a brief shower of the largest snowflakes I've ever seen. Fine snow is falling now.
We'll see how it looks tomorrow given cold temperatures overnight, continued precipitation as well as the general shortage of salt.
It will be nice when we finally get done with this winter.

We dodged it. It went out to sea south of us. It is because I have my snow removal game on. A working snow blower, a pair of ergonomic snow shovels. A strong son. A 4 wheel drive Ranger. During the thaw last weekend, I broke up and pushed the the punky ice off my parking area. It was easy. The paths I made with the snow blower to the back of the house and the tent are 10 feet wide. There is over 11 hrs of daylight. In 3 weeks it will be over 12 hrs. Hang in there.

It was in the 70's here today. Yet tomorrow its gonna be in the 30's and we're supposed to get a couple inches of the snow thats coming this way.

I gave up looking @ online commercial weather sites and the local news. They are driven by "views" and tend to amplify the real situation. Not saying this winter isn't/wasn't bad, just I think those sites don't honestly want to have people be informed but just want to create anxiety as to what might be coming; i realize this is extremely cynical.

"90 million in the path of Titan" reports weather.com; hours ago it was "130 million in the path of Titan", okay... Where and when did those 40 million move?

I need to move back to the Tidewater area. It has been nearly -30 here the last few nights. Should be a balmy 30 on Wednesday.

TV and radio news, the mainstream media, is in the business of fear -- of increasing, rather than alleviating, viewers' anxiety about the world. For generations it was the Cold War, missile threats, nuclear Armageddon, etc. Then the Berlin Wall fell. Within a couple of years it became crises in weather, terrorism, threats to your children, and the "horror" of people carrying guns.

"Your child may be AT RISK! Details at ten on Action Central News!" So you suffer through 20 minutes of Action Central's news. At last they tell you a new study finds that children who eat homemade lunches at school tend to do more poorly on tests than those who eat the school lunches. Big risk, right? But they got you to sit through the commercials, and the other fear-mongering.

I rarely watched TV news as a kid, and I still don't.

I'd prefer to live in a warmer climate....which I will do as soon as I retire in 6 years! I will live in a place where I can ride motorcycle every day! I hate winter with a passion!

-3*F here at 8am this morning. Wind chill advisory listed wind chills at -25* to -30*.

Big fail. They called for ice and 4-6 inches of snow. We got 2 inches, and it's already melting.

I do not like very cold weather but Tony wanted 4 seasons and lots of places to fish. Moving here it was a good compromise. We are 10 minutes to a launch ramp and the weather is reasonable. I do not enjoy shopping and a small town met our needs. I wish it would only snow on grassy areas - no snow or ice removal. I lived in Wisconsin for 4 years and I was so glad to move.

Today is 28* and by Friday it will be 62*.

Yeah, they were forecasting a colossal storm and all we got here was a couple of inches of snow.
It wasn't even as cold as forecast, around 10F this morning.
I'll take it, though.
I had visions of a horrible drive to work this morning.
As it turned out, there were no problems, with only a couple of Darwin Award candidates finding their way into a ditch.
