Castrol edge EP - now claims 25K OCI

I have, they’re very well known in the Sierra Nevada mountains where I reside
More than One?
Has anyone seen a pair together?

With so much advanced technology today, I' surprised none have been captured. Drones would be the easiest way to track it, or them. Darts from the drone could sedate Bigfoot, long enough to capture them alive.

We could ask for Drone oil sponsors. Have the name "Pennzoil" across the side of the dart. Amsoil or HPL could be a sponsor for the Drone.

A couple years ago before I retired a conductor and engineer had one cross the tracks in front of the train(remote area). They didn’t talk about it for a while(even with each other). Conductor was a retired police officer and the engineer was a lifelong hunter. Both serious guys, no BS.

I have not seen more than one. I saw if for a brief second while driving very late at night, 130am ish

I believe you!!!!
Your encounter may be more believable than non-physical nature things I've seen over the years.
Now we need someone here at Bitog that's seen a Yeti.

Go Castrol Edge EP. Wait - I mean Come Castrol Edge EP.... A.S.A.P

Ooooh-wonder if that applies to the $10 Edge EP jugs that AAP was blowing out recently?
I just chatted with the Castrol representative concerning the Gold bottle extended protection. I asked if the older bottle 20,000 mile was any different than the new bottle claiming 25000 miles. I was told the older bottles were discounted and discounted due to a Castrol product rebranding of the new bottles and due to ongoing technical advances in their testing procedure they determined that the previous 20,000 mile oil reciepe was actual good for 25000 miles and the new rebranded bottle has the same product recipe that was in the older (gold) packaging. I purchased 25 jugs of the discounted oil from Advance auto this past April and wanted to know how much had changed. At 10$ (plus a military discount) for a 5qt 5w30, I guess couldn’t go wrong.

it's 25k or 1 year still?

The Castrol 'warranty' means next to nothing. Disingenuous advertising.
I had an engine fail years ago. Took the mechanic about 15 seconds to diagnose the rod bearing failure and tell me how much for a used engine vs rebuilt. Didn't do either and just got rid of the car. But, if I did have an oil company warranty, I always wondered what the next step is. Contact Castrol and report the failure. Dig up all the records to prove I have complied with all the requirements to keep the warranty intact, then what? I assume they (Castrol) have to come see the car and do what? Take the mechanic's word for what's wrong or do they make the mechanic remove and disassemble the engine? When we get to the end and Castrol says "Yup, not our fault, defective bearing, but thanks for using Castrol". Who then pays the bill for having the mechanic tear open an engine that may not even be repairable? Besides the money, how much time does this whole process take with absolutely no guarantee that the decision goes in my favor? These oil company warranties cost nothing but they still don't seem to be worth the expense or time.

You pay. It's the same with these stupid third party car warranty's you report a issue for coverage only to be told we have to prove the failure was not caused by you. It's all a BS money grab and not worth it.

I don't recall anyone here at BITOG (2004-present) complaining their PCMO / ILSAC name-brand oil that was never run low on oil and changed regularly, ruined their engine.

I am dependent on boutique oils to keep our junk engines (listed below) running great, even past my wife & I's Obituary Notices many years from now.

Come see our graves then. Her's will have a bottle of HPL atop the ground and mine will have Amsoil. 🤪 ;)

I was told they are new formulations. I don't think US tech support knows much of anything honestly.

https://www.businesswire.com/news/h...roduct-Claims-Across-Its-Full-Synthetic-Range

"Castrol EDGE Extended Performance Offers Consumers the Best Performance and Protection of any Commercially Available Oil"

So how do they claim this?

  • Highest level of high-temperature performance – 50x better than the industry standard*
  • Highest level of wear protection – 6X better than the industry standard**
  • 3x stronger against viscosity breakdown than the leading full-synthetic***
Based on?

* As measured in the Sequence IIIH engine test vs. API SP test limit
**As measured in the Sequence IVA test vs. latest API test limit
***As measured in Kurt Orbahn test on 5W-30 grade

Well with all the hype who will be the first to offer Lifetime oil never change it just add new oil and change the filter once every ten years?
What Planet will be be contest be on? I do believe gasoline & diesel vehicles here on Earth only have one more 10 year cycle remaining. If you deem multiple more, I'm not seeing it. But it could show up in 3rd World Countries then.

Actually, the USA may only have one more 10 year cycle also. When technology and AI goes bonkers (as we see today), implosions & explosions will eventually occur.

50X Industry standard for wear and sludge control!! How the hell can they quantify that.
I was wondering that too. Not sure.

  • 50X better high temperature performance***
  • As measured in the Sequence IIIH vs. API SP test limit
