Synthetic oil ; cause seals to leak ?

Yaris has a problem with the timing chain seal, nothing wrong with the oil. If it's under warranty get the dealer to fix it. If not, just run it as it's just a very slow minor leak and won't harm anything if you keep it topped up.

Why is everyone so down on Fram oil filters here

Overpriced, inferior construction with everything except the Xtended Guard, many other better choices.

    5w20 Question

Redline makes the best 5w20 IMHO and I would run that in a heartbeat if it was cheaper. My vehicle calls for 5w20 as well, but Chrysler Canada have sent a letter stating 5w30 is fine in the 2.4L World engines. Good thing as our Walmarts have PP 5w30 on for $19 :)

AC PF48 replacement that is larger

Same 22x1.5 threads as the PH2/FL820 used on a lot of Fords. I use PF48 & Wix 57060 on my Jeep Patriot 2.4L engine which has a 4.5L sump, and I'm quite happy with them. With Wix anyways, the 57060 has a better Beta then the larger 51372, so you might be getting a bigger filter, but it may have...

    High Mileage oils

I just put Mobil Super 2000 in my mom's escape as it has started burning a bit, have to wait and see if it works as advertised. I ran Maxlife in my old 1998 Cavalier, and it's still running like a top for the new owner.

Mobil 1 filters at Canadian Tire?

It was worse when Fram actually made the Motomaster brand filters and that was the only choices we had there.....Fram or rebadged Fram :) I'd always get a charge out of the old kooks grabbing a Fram and I'd say "Buy the Motomaster...same thing, but a $1 cheaper". I'd usually get the "Pfffttt...

    Reason NOT to use Amsoil

Cost is about the only reason....seems to be lots of decent oils to choose from for your run of the mill production engines at half the price. I'd question whether you get twice the protection or twice the extended OCI for twice the money it costs to buy Amsoil.
