What was the first straight weight oil you bought?

I am sure this isn't actually the first straight weight oil I bought, but it's the first that I still have a clear memory of.....
Wolf's head 30 weight HD that carried a CD rating. Got it for my dad's boat that had a little diesel in it.

I am sure I must have picked up some straight 30 for my lawn mowers way before that but for some reason that memory sticks in my mind.

Back in the late 60's / early 70's I used straight 20W in the winter and straight 30 weight in the summer. This was in the Northeast at the time...Buffalo, NY.

My first car in 1959 which was a 47 chevy, I used sae10 in the winter, 20 in the spring and fall, and 30 in the summer. Changed oil every 1000miles or sooner. No oil filter of course.

This was the first one for me. Supertech CF rated. I bought it as a super cheap flush oil, to drain and put a few litres back in, start it for a minute then drain again...when I wanted to leave the oil filter on one more run. It's also in my 83 Caprice right now, and it runs the same on it as it did 0w30 or 5w30. I haven't put many miles on it, because it's my winter beater, but I did tow 3 times this summer with that oil in it, no oil usage noticed so far. I ran it full throttle all the way up the hills.

The car is sold to my body guy as soon as I can pick up my truck with new cab corners and rocker panels. He's swapping an LS engine in, so I wasn't concerned about the 305 blowing up or having the best oil in it.

I bought 6 quarts of Amsoil ASE SAE 30 which is now called 10W-30 Synthetic Small Engine Oil for my lawn mower and snow blower. Still have a few lying around since neither take that much.

For me it was Amalie straight 40w or Cam 2 40w if I found it, I remember the Amalie was 69 cents on sale! I fed this to my 68 ss396 Chevelle in Miami during 1972

Never used straight, if there is even a benefit to doing so?
Generally more shear stable especially when used in hot air cooled small engines, although you can find some synthetic 10w30s that have no VIIs that would technically qualify as a monograde but are old as 10w30 because most people use 10w30 these days where Straight 30 was called for..
