Hi guys and girls, I'm new here
I drive a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 V10 engine 4x4 , so far the best oil I have found , believe i or not, is Super Tech, I use it because it has LESS aditives in it and MORE actual oil , of course I also change the oil and filter every 3000 miles too
Is there something wrong with that oil? it meets sae api standards right?

I didn’t know that.

What’s the list of additives in the oil and the amounts?

I bet that API SA rated non-detergent mono-grade stuff is exceptional with it's high lubricating oil content, low/no viscosity modifiers and none of that nasty detergent stuff to interfere with protecting the engine when the hydrodynamic film is running a bit thin.

I can't wait for Christmas. It's my favorite holiday.

I suggest golden state sae 30 if you like MORE actual oil...

This is a marketing point for some brands of "racing oil" so it's not completely out of left field.

My extensive BITOG research over the years had me believing Valvoline white bottle was good oil for someone who wanted mostly oil in their oil.
I learn something new everyday. I think I remember an article about conventional oil advantages in some racing applications. But don’t remember a “more oil” advantage mentioned.

Driving a V10 Dodge 4X4 pickup? I’m surprised you can afford oil (after paying for all that gas)! At 3000 miles, any properly rated motor oil will be fine, even Super Tech. Cheaper is better, frees up money for gas!

Stop reading those Warren Highline Handouts at Walmart while upside down. ;)

So, additives are bad? Huh.

And yet, oil companies spend billions on them so that oils meet specifications required by manufacturers.

Should we all go back to non-detergent straight 30, then? It had even fewer additives.
I prefer mine in straight crude form. All that processing and refining strips it of all its organic vegan dirt nutrients, which are important for proper break-in of an infant motor, all the way through childhood and into adult maturity. Gotta keep your babies sufficiently nutrished!

Normally I despise any engine noise, with rare exception (Porsche flats, etc), but I would love having that engine. I would remove the exhaust manifolds and leave them off. Satanic Flatulence.

There was a new-in-crate 'vintage' Viper V10 on Bring A Trailer this week. Saw it as an article on Jalopnik. A dealer service tech had accidentally ordered it back in the day, then it got sold on but never used, and then sold again and the new owner was listing it. Never even been installed, still had the factory port plugs in place.

Wow. You guys are rough on a fella. He clearly means well, and asking an honest question, based on their "understanding" and misguided opinions on that "understanding".

Instead of raking this guy through the coals......can anyone educate them via link or simple explanation? Maybe on the home page of this site.

You sure could have with your reply, but instead chose to attempt to shame us? 😂

If that’s your assessment then go for it.
