Valvoline Restore and Protect Fuel System Cleaner??

It got more pushback from the start than I would have expected and continued longer than I would have expected.
If they really believe (and know through testing) that it can out-perform PEAs in fuel systems, this could be a huge game changer.

Think of all of the deposit prone engines with fuel dilution issues and dirty valves. Combine Valvoline Restore and Protect engine oil and now their FSC; it could be a game winning combo for those needing extra cleaning.

We already have some evidence of Valvoline Restore and Protect oil vapors or “light misting” of the oil that has seemingly begun cleaning up essentially “no/low flow” areas.

So, the potential is here for next level cleanliness. How much better than PEA cleaners is in question. I’m running a bottle currently for fun (almost due for an oil change)… 😎

I want to say that I have seen some claims on here that Valvoline Restore and Protect can indirectly clean the PCV system/intake valves on DI engines with this light misting. I will see if I can find those posts.

My wife's car (the one I posted with the Valvoline Restore and Protect FSC bottle going in) struggles with BAD fuel dilution being a PHEV and the constant gas/hybrid cycle... Maybe this is just another way for the product to attack the top rings (again, just speculating that the secret Valvoline Restore and Protect sauce is in this fuel system cleaner)?

I really have no idea if fuel dilution is something that can be fixed with FSC or running premium oil (Amsoil, HPL,Valvoline Restore and Protect) or if it's simply just a byproduct of Direct injection in high HP/boost engines. But WE WILL SEE.

Whatever this chemistry is they are using in Valvoline Restore and Protect and now employing it in a FS cleaner, it has to have an incredible ability to breakdown carbon. Pretty interesting. (y)

Agreed. Considering the reputation that Valvoline Restore and Protect has already created for itself, it seems that if customers see a fuel system cleaner of the same name, that it would go quick.
They also need to set the shelves with space for it. The second AZ I went to I could barely see the bottles. They were sideways, no label facing front, no yellow tag. I had to stand back and scan slow knowing what I wanted. Not a jump out you space. All the other brands were clear to see the labels.

Thanks to the multiple people who have brought this up. We will speak to AutoZone about what is happening with this, as it should not be the case.

Now if Valvoline would come up with a simple, easy way to clean the carbon off GDI intake valves that doesn't require taking off the manifold...
For that I'm still going to say probably your best bet is to use the CRC intake valve deposits gDI cleaner with pea along with BG epr or on a slower clean with the gumout multi tune in the crank case which also has pea. When I was using that method it was 1 oz per quart and i just drove it very gently for the 15 Mi that I had to go to have the service done. I think for the nitrogen to work it requires heat so that's just something to keep in mind. From the oil only, something like the engine cleaner 30 or the Valvoline Restore and Protect might be the way to go. No on seafoam. I don't know if a genuine dedicated engine flush from Amsoil or liqui moly wood have a significant effect but i think occasionally using one might not be a bad idea. I have not spoken to our in-house liquimoly rep today @TiGeo

I went in to buy some Valvoline Restore and Protect fuel system cleaner and could not fine the bottles. Kid behind the desk asked what I am looking for and I told him. He did a product lookup and saw they did have it in stock. He goes over to shelf and there were two bottles. I never saw them due to being turned sideways and pushed back from the front of the shelf out of direct sight. I bought one bottle and poured it into my tank. Made me kind of wonder why two stores that I know of did this? Are there more stores? Anyway I'm glad I found it.

Did you happen to take a photo? I went to 4 stores and they are all perfect. Id love to have a photo to send to our contacts at AutoZone.

If the product works i have no problem. I just like that red line is something that I've always used in a pinch and it says what it does and it does what it says and I like the upper cylinder lubricant that it provides. I guess I could put a teaspoon of it in a gallon jug of lucas Fuel Treatment and have the same effect but I like doing business with a boutique brands as they seem to have products that outperform the over-the-counter stuff that is usually bought and sold at Walmart

One of my 3 AZ’s had the same thing. Valvoline Restore and Protect and MaxLife sideways, no picture though. I’m guessing they need to restock the shelves. I bought 4 bottles of 6 available throughout the 3 stores in my area. Figured I’ll give someone else a chance to try it. Lol

EDIT: still haven’t got the opportunity to try it. They’re in my truck which is at the shop. But I do have an Explorer ST as a loaner!

Okay - used a bottle and burned that tank of gas …
Do I have to do 3 more 😜 ?
To be sarcastic and serious all at the same time that is an extremely good question. I'm sure it probably would have been better had you did a before and after analysis with a microscope or a camera of some sort but back to your comment I think that's a very intelligent post. They got me thinking after you posted that comment that if it's anything like the oil that seems to be something that maybe into consideration

Thinking I will alternate chemistry - keep using the PEA type on last tank before oil change - and use the Valvoline product mid-way. We are not high mileage drivers - (within OLM) - so it’s not allot of money.

This was where I bought 2 on Sunday. They didn't restock yet. You can see the space allocated to it. On Sunday the Maxlife bottles were sideways the same, not sure where dividers were.
