GF-6 or GF-7 does not matter, if these ratings really meant something, we would not need an oil like Valvoline Restore and Protect!

It's just labeling.

I wonder what they mean by "different platform" GTL or not ???? I'm running this Valvoline Restore and Protect 5w30 in my ram 1500 hemi ..... motor super quiet and smooth..... about 2,100 miles into oci ... oil is still clear, maybe slight tint ..concidering 3k and then dump being 1st run of this

Seat of the pants ...tells me enough........ done a few cold starts after sitting all night in teens and motor quiet from crank of the starter...... mobil-113a filter. 61psi oil pres cold idle

bumping this----anyone see any SQ Valvoline Restore and Protect?.... I haven't despite looking at the in-store shelves at the usual suspects. I'd like to get 3 jugs of SQ Valvoline Restore and Protect if it exists.

I get the arguments above---but still, the SQ label would be nice, lmao. thank you in advance.

Valvoline claims it exceeds gf-7 specs ..... not sure why they haven't changed bottle/label ..shouldn't matter

I posted this on another thread, but Valvoline appears to have API SQ and ILSAC GF-7 licensing for Valvoline Restore and Protect according to the API EOLCS database.

I just recently bought 2x 5-quart jugs as well as a single quart of 0w-20 Valvoline Restore and Protect off Amazon and they're all still labeled as SP and GF-6A. Haven't seen any updated packaging / labeling yet anywhere.

I haven't. I check the Valvoline Restore and Protect oils every other week at different locations at 10-20 miles apart and I still see only API SP oils. That's what I have at home - 4 jugs of API SP and they were bought at two-three different location. The API SQ rating is only on their website, but not in stores yet.

I haven't seen their new black label design on Restore & Protect bottles and jugs in stores either. I think I saw the new label only on Advanced Protection, Extended Protection, and MaxLife but I haven't check those if they are still API SP or are already SQ.

on the shelves, I've finally started to see the SQ Valvoline Advanced and its new label. So I'm guessing that SQ-labeled Valvoline are making its way through the system.

I would not worry about the label. The thing inside must be the same regardless if the labels says SQ or SP, and that must be something far superior to what those two demand anyway
