Toyota Cover Up

I meant a big +1 to shutting down Toyota in the US. Personally, I am sick of seeing Toyota's in NASCAR. Kind of makes me sick to know that they have befuddled their way into everything that is American, and have infected so many minds in thinking that Toyota is more American than any of the big three.

Psst....check my sig for the fleet. No kool-aid, just an editorial comment on the past history of Toyota threads here. Carry on.....

I dont mean to come off as insensitive to those affected by the recalls, but im glad Toyota is having problems. I am hopeful that this will bring back interest in American brands.

Japanese-built Toyotas have had serious issues also:

Japan Inquiry Into Accident Could Tarnish Toyota Image

Quote:

...the police in Kumamoto, a small city in southern Japan, accused Toyota of failing to recall the type of S.U.V. involved in an accident in 2004 that injured a family of five, despite having known for years of a fault in the steering assembly.

This isnt face saving at all.....unless your willing to ignore the fact that they acted in such a manner as to save themselves 100 million dollars.

Its becoming very clear that the attempts to slime CTS are nothing more than attempts at helping out their future litigation. Toyota is smoke screening the entire American market and we have every right be very upset at them as a corporate entity.

Helen can do whatever she wants.....it's her sand box.

But at some point someone has got to admit to themselves that some amount of bashing is earned. Toyota put a price on human life and they should pay for that, is it not fair to discuss that? Should we all just ignore this revelation?

If pointing out the truth is now labeled as bashing around here then so be it......the relevance of the board will suffer as a result IMO.

Same here. After the royal screw job Toyota gave me on my 05 Tacoma I hope the company crashes and burns and goes belly up forever. Like you I feel for those that have been impacted by this but I won't lie I would love to see Toyota sink like the Titanic - forever. Won't happen as too many people think they are the end all be all but maybe it will finally open some eyes to the fact they are a lousy company that does not make vehicles any better than the competition.

If you're Ford, yes. If you're Government Motors, no.

I think at this point though I would rather have a GM over a Toyota. One company got too big, too fast and is in a downward spiral, the other company is at the bottom and (hopefully) can only come back up. Its the lesser of two evils IMO of course.

(Caution automotive sarcasm ahead)

If this had been GM they would already be bankrupt.

The plot thickens.

Toyota death watch ? ..... Anyone ?

I predict that sales will plummet as their false reputation for quality and honesty deflates.

The stock market will follow. Get out while you still have your shirt.

What evidence does anyone have that the more expensive recall would have been more beneficial to consumers?

Why should a company just bend over and do whatever a regulator wants if they think it is wasteful? What's wrong with negotiating it?

Or do we have a problem with the attachment of positive words to a recall, and are we totally uninterested in the content of the matter?

These are honest questions BTW.

I would have hoped you'd have more respect for American brands and American customers than to say something like that.

The American brands would have been fine. They didn't need Toyota to be shot in the leg. All this fiasco is doing is generating bad vibes.

So true!

I've always tried to buy Toyota vehicles built in Japan.
Our RX was built in Canada but has been great so far.

So just so I understand, you are giving a big +1 to closing all the Toyota factories in the US and probably Canada too, and having Toyota build all of their cars in Japan.

Because that's what you just gave a big +1 to, killing a bunch of jobs in the US and creating more jobs in another country.

So in other words, you want Toyota to be like GM, Ford and Chrysler and export American jobs overseas.

OK, just wanted to make sure I understood. You are in favor of exporting the jobs of US workers.
