+1 By and far cars are far more dangerous on the roads. Let's worry about the big problems and fix the stupid car drivers. Truck drivers may do some annoying things but they are far safer drivers than the idiots on the road texting, putting on makeup, reading, talking on the phone, etc.

Driving in the left lane holding up traffic as they try to pass another truck is a serious issue? Really? People need to quit being cry babies, stop worrying about the small things and try and stay alive by dodging the texters on the road. Geez....


You try spending 10 hours a weekend dealing with these road hogging idiots...I'd bet you wouldn't think it was such a trivial problem then...

^^^ I spend that much time in one shift dealing with all sorts of drivers. You seem to have the potential to be a loose cannon while driving. Maybe you should take a chill pill before getting under the wheel. Just sayin. ^^^

Yes, they need to move over eventually. Since they're several times longer than a car and give other truckers adequate braking room it takes them several times longer to pass. You seem massively impatient that others are in what you perceive as "your lane" and yours alone. If a shopper pauses in the supermarket with her cart blocking traffic to select an item, does this ruin your shopping trip?

When they block the lane on long up-hills for miles is what bugs me. One can't make the speed to pass and the other truck won't back off just a little to let them in.

Why do you people keep repeating obvious things? I know this stuff. As I said, I used to drive semis...what I'm talking about is the completely unnecessary (and sometimes illegal) things they do, like driving in the left lane when they're not overtaking any other vehicles, or driving in the far left lane when there are more than two lanes...any dummy knows they can't maneuver like passenger vehicles can...

In Maryland you have the dangerous situation of heavy duty trucks in the far-left lane of a freeway, keeping up with traffic going 70 MPH or more. What is the stopping distance of a 60,000 dump truck going 75? More dangerous than the disparity of speeds between lanes is people passing on the right because the left lane is clogged up with trucks. I don't have a problem with truckers using the right two lanes, but they abuse their use of the left lane...if they can't overtake slower moving vehicles without holding up others, then they should stay in the right lane until they can...

Here in New Jersey the Police pound them with tickets for everything they are always pulling over trucks i talk to a lot of the guys and they are told to keep the roads safe so the truckers spread the word. The truckers are trying to make a living but here in NJ they are forced to do it safely.
There are also a lot of very good truck drivers on the roads and they keep things safe also.
