Do you really believe that? If there were no trucks, people would stop driving dangerously?

No, but I believe they would stop doing stupid things to get around trucks...

Finally, some common sense.

"Stupid is as stupid does". They will find another way to hurt others.

With good reason. Its CRIME RATE. And it concentrates in cities. Go to any city and leave your car unlocked and see what happens.

You know what "plummeted" means, right? It means "gone down a lot."

If fear of crime has gone up while actual crime has gone down, that's not exactly a case of fear "with good reason."

This thread isn't even about bad truckers anymore...it's been turned into a non-trucker bash fest by the pro-trucker crowd...

Bash fest? No, more like common sense fest.

You say "something needs to be done with truckers". Instead of whining like a little [censored] on an internet forum, how are you gonna go about doing that something??? You going to contact any government officials? How about the NHTSA? Trucking associations?

My guess is no. You will continue to be one of the morons raising your blood pressure and giving truckers and anyone else who accidentally gets in your way, the finger, and cussing and crying like a baby.

Sane people in this thread probably concluded a long time ago that there really isn't anything that can be done, and it's best to calm down and live with it because it really isn't that big of a problem, and reacting to trucks on the highway in a negative and emotionally charged way is basically a stupid waste of time, energy, and emotion.

Have a nice day gramps...If that would ever even be possible.

I have driven truck for years and it is not that hard. to drive a truck. I drove van, tanker and flatbed hauling light equipment, local and the 48 states. It is a hard job though . I see more terrible truckers these days than years ago.

off. Can't remember when I was last cut off by one.

But being serious in my million+ miles of driving I can't recall any time I have been "seriously" cut off by a truck where I had to pile on brakes..and it was an accident ready to happen. If your driving is that bad that you can't react to a slow moving truck who is admittedly pulling out on you...time to join the grampis of the world and turn your license and relegate yourself to a golf cart.

I've had truckers cut me off plenty of times, and have seen them do it to other motorists too. Literally cutting over into my lane when I'm already 5 feet forward of their tail end. And yes, if it wasn't for me making a very aggressive defensive move it could have certainly turned into an accident.

That right there is either a moron driving the semi truck, or an a-hole who is trying to purposely use his big rig as a weapon ... or both. And BTW, don't make this "personal". I've driven thousands of miles in heavy highway traffic and I'm telling what I've experienced. If you don't like the truth, then too bad and don't make stupid personal attack comments.

Forget it...we're just whiners and crybabies...truckers can do no wrong so there's no use saying anything about them because it just turns all of these pro-truckers against us....apparently truckers do own the roads...

Like I said, try spending 20 hours a weekend dealing with these road hogging a-holes and I guarantee you'd be changing your tune...

Grampi, tell the truth. You drive in the left lane doing to speed limit to "slow down them crazy drivers" don't you?

If I did, why would I be complaining when truckers do it?

At several points in my life for school and one job I had, my daily commutes were 75 to 100 miles on I-25 from either CO Spgs to Denver or to Pueblo; one of the busiest interstates in the country.

I used to get so mad a trucks hogging the road, I'd lose my voice from yelling. After doing research and talking with a few drivers, I quickly learned about the speed governing and how it's not always possible for them to safely get out of each and every passenger cars way. I finally decided to just deal with it and not get angry. Driving has been much less stressful when I stopped emotionally reacting to things I have absolutely no control over.

So yes, I've dealt with truckers in the 2 different ways every person has their own ability to control their emotions over. I've chosen to relax and deal with it and not get angry. You also have that choice.

It sounds like you used to get irate. I don't get that bad. Like I said earlier, I used to drive semis, so I'm not just looking at this issue from one perspective. I know most trucks are speed governed, my issue with them is when they feel the need to overtake other trucks when they're going only 1 or 2 MPH faster than the truck they're passing, knowing darn well that doing so will have a long line of cars backed up behind them. In these instances they could simply slow down 1 or 2 MPH and stay in the right lane until making their pass won't hold up other vehicles...I don't think that's unreasonable...it isn't like I'm calling for the complete eradication of all semis...

Without trucks, Walmart would shut down, then where would we buy our oil and filters then..................and no more food...
