Not enough to do away with ICE vehicles...not even close...But there's plenty of us who do.

True. I still want to keep my ICE car too. It's just this dumb decision to end all ICE cars has caused a knee jerk reaction to fight every thing about the electric car that doesn't make sense in that direction either. I didn't think technology could turn so polarizing, but here we are.Not enough to do away with ICE vehicles...not even close...
From everything I've researched the mining of the battery materials and the manufacturing of the batteries produces more harm to the planet then just going and buying the same model car with a fuel efficient gasoline engine...
To me the whole Eevee thing doesn't make any sense.... To me it seems like the objective is to change hands of power and money in the world..
From what I've read about their batteries the whole thing seems ridiculous to me
Okay, lets try this on for size...From everything I've researched the mining of the battery materials and the manufacturing of the batteries produces more harm to the planet then just going and buying the same model car with a fuel efficient gasoline engine...

What ICE vehicle does Tesla make?In order to make money, car companies need to offer what people want. The EV market isn't big enough (and won't be for a long time) for car companies to quit making ICE vehicles...
Okay, lets try this on for size...
My Acura RDX 2022 cost me $450-550/mo to drive, in fuel alone.
My EV6 GT will cost (based on my C40's cost) about $85/mo in electricity.
My Acura RDX did the quarter mile in t he high 14's@95mph or so.
My EV6 GT will do the quarter mile in the mid 11's@around 120mph.
They both have near identical features.
Everyone's situation is different, so I'll just use MSRP's 100% financed at 6% APR for 72mo:
The RDX would cost $878/mo
The EV6 GT would cost $1060/mo.
So you save $300/mo and drive a vehicle with literal world-class acceleration, the convenience of not having to stop for fuel except on road trips, and way way less maintenance...
...and you think this is about carbon footprint of lithium vs. burst pipelines? My friend, this is about stepping up to the next technology like we did with carb--->TPI--->EFI--->DI.
Those are all good numbers, but it is still $60k for KIA.Okay, lets try this on for size...

Toyota Landcruiser...from the company that brought you the Tercel. Those are all good numbers, but it is still $60k for KIA.
And just bcs. it is EV, it does not somehow separate immediately from the fact that that is a manufacturer of Soul, Rio etc.
IMO, it is way too expensive.
$40k, OK.
Geeez. Buy yourself an actual luxury/performance vehicle bcs. it seems that every thread you open about vehicles you want to buy or you bought, it is actually about vehicles you did not get, but you really want.Toyota Landcruiser...from the company that brought you the Tercel.
Ford GT....from the company that brought you the Taurus.
Dodge Viper...from Dodge.
The cheapest EV6 you can buy in the US MSRPs for $49K, nearly. The most expensive, about $63. That's a $14K spread, which is actually pretty narrow. I think you can probably get a bigger spread on BMW's 3-series without changing engines...
Moving on, let's check out how the Kia Stinger has held up...it's a $50K Kia...although it isn't an EV, it's been on the market long enough to get a vibe for how Kia's in the "upper cost range" do...
https://caredge.com/depreciation/kia/stinger
That's not bad at all!
Let's compare it to say, the Audi S4...
https://caredge.com/audi/s4/depreciation
OOF!
Okay, okay, maybe something like the C class?
https://caredge.com/mercedes-benz/c-class/depreciation
Dang
Man...ummm...what else performs like a Stinger and is AWD? Errr...I dunno. Uh. Let's pick a Toyota or something that MIGHT beat it for value retention, to hell with comparing like/like!
https://caredge.com/toyota/camry/depreciation
Whew! Okay. Wow. Finally found something that holds value better. I was scared. Oh wait. I read that wrong. Uhhh...
So what was that again that you were trying to make a point about?
What competes with an EV6 GT?Geeez. Buy yourself an actual luxury/performance vehicle bcs. it seems that every thread you open about vehicles you want to buy or you bought, it is actually about vehicles you did not get, but you really want.
My point? KIA=$60k. Not that league!
I have no idea. Not sure does anything needs to compete with it?What competes with an EV6 GT?
Savings isn't the key. It's features + fun + reliability track record.I have no idea. Not sure does anything needs to compete with it?
It is $60k KIA.
Don’t get me wrong, it is good vehicle. But, that is already actual luxury vehicle pricing.
If savings were key, there are better propositions.
Reliability? It is absolutely new model. How do you know what is their reliability record?Savings isn't the key. It's features + fun + reliability track record.
You want to know what an actual luxury car with the athletic chops of an EV6 GT costs?
https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/a42086561/2023-bmw-ix-m60-by-the-numbers/
Starts at $108k, goes up to about $120k. Similar acceleration, worse handling. Sure, it does have more range and it is absolutely nicer, though. Less reliable, though, based on recalls and issues so far...
I think I'll be fine with the EV6 GT.
European cars...not my thing. I've tried it, and my friends have as well, and they just aren't worth the headache.
The platform is about 2 years old now. Its done very well. BMW has recalled thousands of EVs lately for serious issues. The ev6 is the highest ranked EV vehicle in CR for reliability, currently, I believe, based on how well the 2022s have done.Reliability? It is absolutely new model. How do you know what is their reliability record?
How do you know reliability record of iX? My BMW and VW were both more than my Toyota.
You are assuming a lot, to justify purchase, which I am not sure why you need to do it. You bought a car, enjoy it.
That same company that has one Mercedes model and 17 Toyota models and then they made conclusions based on that? On owners like you that didn’t properly set in a vehicle, but they already figured how reliable it is?The platform is about 2 years old now. Its done very well. BMW doesnt have an EV that can compete. So yes. Kia and BMW dont belong togather on the field. That same company that has one Mercedes model and 17 Toyota models and then they made conclusions based on that? I am not implying you should buy BMW (not sure on which planet KIA and BMW are comparable), but again, it is $60k for KIA. You opened thread implying that. Here is an answer.
Don’t worry, recalls will come. Which by the way, is not indicative of reliability.
Handle a track? Did you spend time on track.BMW doesnt have an EV that can compete. So yes. Kia and BMW dont belong togather on the field.
$60k is pretty bargain for an EV with a 70+kw pack.
$60k gets you into the Kia that can handle the track, or $100+ for a Taycan that will cook its battery into limp mode in just one lap of the northern circuit of the Ring, lol!
How am I trying to convince myself its "a luxury vehicle"? And you're right. Its not going to have issues with the battery pack like the Taycan.Handle a track? Did you spend time on track.
Every time you buy vehicle you open a thread where you trying to convince yourself you bought luxury vehicle.
I seriously don’t know why you need to do that. You bought car, go enjoy it.
And no, it is not Porsche.
Bcs. every thread you opened about car you want to buy or bought it you compare to MB AMg, S4 etc.How am I trying to convince myself its "a luxury vehicle"? And you're right. Its not going to have issues with the battery pack like the Taycan.
