Not trolling, but all things being equal, why not just use SuperTech for everything?

Not trying to start a forum war, but I've been wondering, if you're someone who changes oil frequently, does it make sense to use anything other than SuperTech synthetic? I've never used it before, what I've used previously is Mobil1 AFE, Valvoline SynPower, or Castrol Edge Titanium. My goal is to maximize engine reliability.

Is there really any difference using something like Castrol Edge vs SuperTech (both 5w30)? If both are D1G2, SN+, and GF-6 certified, and you do changes every 4,000 miles or so, what's the downside? I don't mind paying more if I'm getting my money's worth, but lately everything has been around double SuperTech's price. So if there's truly no benefit, I'd rather not throw away money.

Engine is an FA20DIT in a WRX. I take LSPI very seriously and I also know TGDI engines like to shear oil hence the frequent changes.
I do run ST (or Kirkland) oil in everything except my Harley. I've used M1, QSUD, and PP in the past. I don't notice a bit of difference in noise, oil consumption, fuel economy. Of course, I only run a 5k interval so, to be fair, any oil would probably work just fine.

The Harley gets Castrol 20w50 for now, only because I ordered in bulk from Amazon. Once that's gone I'll try the ST20W50 synthetic v-twin oil.

If a name brand oil helps me sleep better at night, that is the oil I will use. $10 extra every 6 months won't kill me. It gives me warm fuzzy feelings, and the satisfaction that my vehicles are maintained to the highest standard.

I started using ST because of all the posts here saying they liked it. I went from cheap synthetic blends from major oil companies to high mileage synthetic for my oil using truck. I buy online from wall mart and have it delivered to my door. It's 2021 and I just don't think there are really any bad oils out there. Many of you are very picky. (that's ok) I bet conventional oil would probably be ok for most people here if they changed their oil every few thousand miles. When I changed the transfer case oil I read that you had to be very careful to get the right one to avoid failures. ST was the only brand that covered it strangely. Also finding transfer case fluid was hard also. It was like looking for honest politicians. Sorry, I can't remember the specific thing that made ST the right pick for my truck. I think it met a certain spec. for older vehicles.

I cannot get myself to use ST in my F150 Ecoboost that gets abused towing. I just can't. I do use it in my Lexus GX and 95' 4Runner.

The thing is, unless I am in dire need of oil within a day or two, i usually just wait for a rebate or sale to happen and pick up any of the name brand oils for cheaper than the supertech. The last score was M1 and it was cheaper than the normal ST price.

Choice is great. But because you're
one who chooses to use it or one who does not, doesn't mean you have to browbeat those in opposition to your choice. It's becoming a common theme on here. Not everyone, but enough to make it noticeable.

If you are referring to your F150 you chose the ST transmission fluid because it's recommended for Mercon and Dex III. This IS NOT the correct fluid for your transfer case. It takes a special fluid only made by Ford. It is available from Amazon and that's where I got mine.

Supertech is practically unavailable in my country...

I'm a member of a Filipino car group on FB, and I saw people asking about Mag1 oil in the Philippines. Apparently it's fairly popular there.

Mag1 is more or less "boosted" Supertech with a little bit more additives, and made by Warren Distribution like Supertech. Don't know the pricing/etc compared to other oils, but if you wanted to try it, it is around in SEA.

I’ve changed oils to different weights and brands trying to find something my daughters Kia won’t drink. Right now I’ve got Supertech Synthetic High Mileage 10w-30 and it’s working like a charm! No noticeable usage that I can see and it’s been pretty hot here since this OCI. I think it might be the ticket for her engine!
