1.YesAre there D1G2 API SP oils that don't show the Jeep spec? If so, why?
2. Magic 8 ball says ..... "ask again later" Maybe an oil industry insider could chime in.. otherwise we may never know.

My daughters 2019 Infinity SUV 2.0 4 cyl turbo recommends 10K OCIs. Her dealer uses M1 oils. Not willing to risk it with today's TGDI engines. Subaru recommends every 6,000 miles.
Not trying to start a forum war, but I've been wondering, if you're someone who changes oil frequently, does it make sense to use anything other than SuperTech synthetic? I've never used it before, what I've used previously is Mobil1 AFE, Valvoline SynPower, or Castrol Edge Titanium. My goal is to maximize engine reliability.
Is there really any difference using something like Castrol Edge vs SuperTech (both 5w30)? If both are D1G2, SN+, and GF-6 certified, and you do changes every 4,000 miles or so, what's the downside? I don't mind paying more if I'm getting my money's worth, but lately everything has been around double SuperTech's price. So if there's truly no benefit, I'd rather not throw away money.
Engine is an FA20DIT in a WRX. I take LSPI very seriously and I also know TGDI engines like to shear oil hence the frequent changes.
Or just wait for the Stop/Start formula to go on clearanceWith so many annual rebates out there, it's possible to use major brand synthetic oil for less cost than Supertech. Mobil 1 annual rebates work out to about $14 per 5-quart jug... pretty sure Supertech syn is more than $14. Pennzoil has regular rebates too.
Just like any other product, people have their favorites and the great thing about free enterprise is we get to choose what we want. Even if something is considered better, or more cost effective, doesn't mean everyone will automatically make the same choice. People have preferences that sometimes are wildly different than yours or mine. Not trying to start a forum war, but I've been wondering, if you're someone who changes oil frequently, does it make sense to use anything other than SuperTech synthetic? Running the Kirkland version of synthetic out to 10k myself. Only taking around 5-6 months to hit 10k anyway.I would be very disappointed in an oil I only trusted for 4K OCIs. I have used M1 oils for the last 43 years at 10K OCIs with great success.
The way a quality synthetic oil should perform.Running the Kirkland version of synthetic out to 10k myself. Only taking around 5-6 months to hit 10k anyway.
true, but there comes a point when someone else’s choices call into question their capability to make decisions for themselves. people that like blue cheese, for instance.Just like any other product, people have their favorites and the great thing about free enterprise is we get to choose what we want. That's what I do with our 2 older/higher mileage vehicles (teenager's) too - ST HM oil and ST filters. There is just no reason for me to spend anymore on those cars for DIY oil changes that get driven 5K or less a year. For some reason, I have just gone from a complete oil nerd to the guy who now puts ST 5w30 High Mileage full synthetic with a Fram Tough Guard filter in my 2 older vehicles. This from the guy that drove all over metro Detroit to "score" discounted German Castrol "green" when they discontinued it and you could still find it at Auto Zone (some here may remember the"green elixir of the gods") when it was all the rave (I think I ended up with over 60 qts. of the stuff...took awhile to use it up..good oil but what was I thinking?). Next was my Mobil 1 obsession and finally Pennzoil (oh yeah...only Redline lubes.in my tranny and diffs too...just drained that out last fall and replaced it with...you guessed it...ST synthetic for the diffs but staying with Redline for the trans). The simple fact is I'm coming up on 66 years old and am now retired. I'm still driving my last new car (2010 Suzuki Kizashi AWD) with 104k miles which more than meets my current needs. Fact is, it's the best and most trouble-free car I've ever owned. It's been maintained to BITOG standards. It'll last awhile more. When something breaks that won't make sense to fix considering the value of the car (next to nothing...even in this market), I will have to give the 'ol girl up (think CVT). So far, good maintenance and sensible driving habits have avoided any costly repairs. I didn't retire rich...able to get by with some left over but won't be buying new again. The house is going to need a roof and furnace soon (can't believe the roof estimates...double just a few years ago). Considering the fact that I drove less than 4,000 miles last year I think I'm good (before retiring I was driving 30k a year ..had my Prius for that). I don't frequent the site much these days but it's nice to check in once in awhile...just to see what's going on.
The ST stuff is $15 for 5L I believe. M1 with $10 rebate is going to be a touch cheaper (I see M1 for $22-24 for 5L). Less hassle for me I suppose for what could be $2. Better oil is the whole crux here - what is "better" about those other name-brand oils in the use I have (teenagers driving a '08 Lexus RX350 and '13 Ford Focus picking up groceries? Sure. Why would I use Super Tech when I can get better oils for cheaper?
They sell it up in Canada - I'd use it in my Atlas. If you need an API SP / ILSAC GF-6 motor oil, ST is just as good as anything else on the market. They even have a 20k mi rated oil for goodness sake.
Now, if you need Euro Specs.........
That's true, i forgot that. I would use it if I still had the Passat too. They sell it up in Canada - I'd use it in my Atlas.
