Not trolling, but all things being equal, why not just use SuperTech for everything?

Many Non-Bitogers refuse to trust an oil they believe is made by WM.

Some Bitogers want easy access to PDS, SDS and a website to review what they've purchased not to mention contact information just-in-case.
Many Bitgoers also discounted the DEXOS standard when it first came out calling it a money grab. Fast forward today many Bitgoers now use DEXOS as the minimum standard for oil. In summary people are fickle. Eventhough supertech has DEXOS the fact that it is a Walmart product they shy away yet love Kirkland(Costco) oil, go figure.

Isn't Kirkland and Amazon oil made by the same people that make SuperTech?

Yes they are including Mag1 and a host of other brands.

So how can it be Kirkland > Walmart assuming it's the same manufacturer and certifications? I highly doubt they would formulate a superior oil for Costco. Chances are it's the exact same thing with a different label.

Most every car on the road would make it to 220k with bargain brand API rated oil if following the oem suggested OCIs.
I would guess much farther. Because high mile vehicles are driven lots of miles and an engine at operating temps have milimalmwear per mile.

That is the point I am making they are all equal but the Walmart name carries a certain stigma.
Before we send Wal-Mart down the toilet, consider this. Walmart's vary just like car dealers. The Walmart in the non inner city locations are very nice places to shop here in the Kansas City area. Mine is clean, staffed by long term employee's and have done a fantastic job during the pandemic. No where else I have shopped has had fewer price increases, and the one that happened are not excessive. Yes, the 800 lb Gorilla has its plus side.

When Walmart says we are not paying more to their suppliers, most are knuckling under. I have even seen that went up and now are back down to the pre pandemic prices. Even toilet paper has come down in price. No longer do I change my own oil. My oil changes are at the dealer for $50 which includes tire rotation and fluid top offs.

Here is my .02. People tend to shy away from house or generic brands thinking that they are of inferior quality. While in the past this may have been true, many store brands are made by big manufacturers. Not only oil, many Kirkland products which sell at Costco, are made by such manufacturers. For example batteries are made by Duracell, their aluminum foil made by Reynolds etc. I just think most consumers still believe generics are for poor people and name brands are much better, eventhough the elevated price is not quality, it's for advertising and marketing. Same for medications but I won't poke that hornets nest.

I get your point but that has nothing to do with the quality of the product itself. We shouldn't judge an oil's protection capabilities on the account of it may be sold in displeasurable locations.

It doesnt matter what oil you use if you select the API (or other rating such as Dexos) required by the engine maker. There is no superior oil that will make your engine last longer. (except in discussions with others and forums, ha ha)
In this day and age this has never been more true.

Its still your option to buy what gives you a warm fuzzy feeling for whatever reason though but lets face it, most of the time that is because of corporate marketing getting into peoples head.

*depending on your intended use

Track? Towing?

I put Supertech in my Rouge as the final fill before giving it to my son and his family. It's the 10,000 mile Synthetic variety, and I used a 10,000 mile Purolater filter. I did this as he is not very big on keeping an eye on oil changes ( I did set the reminder to go off at 6000 miles). I could have put Mobil 1, or something expensive in it, but, he could wreck in soon (moved to a big city), or there could be other issues, so I chose not to spend the money. I know the car will be home at least once or twice a year and I can then make sure he has changed or checked it. I also put Supertech in his 2000 Camry before sending it off with him.

My Jeep runs on Supertech 10W-30 now, as the 5 quart jug is the same price as a 4 quart jug of Shell oil, which I had been running. The only reason my van does not is the convenience of the Havoline 6 quart box.

My Camry will get a fill of Valvoline Full Synthetic in 2000 miles as I have it on the shelf, but I'll go Supertech after that.

As I get older, I don't need to spend more money on stuff like this! BITOG has changed me over....

Well the next time I see SuperTech 5w30 Full Synthetic for $2.19/quart I'm going to stock up.

Dexos D1G2, API SP, and ILSAC GF-6A are good enough for me for 4,000 miles in all sorts of driving conditions.
