Not trolling, but all things being equal, why not just use SuperTech for everything?

I like and use SuperTech Synthetics BUT the one thing that does bother me a bit is that other than Dexos they dont list any Manufacturer approvals on the back. You would think since they procalim the Dexos on the front they would list the Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota approvals someplace.

if they had the 5w-40 they sell in canada in the us their lineup would be pretty complete. Also has anyone noticed supertech prices going up and some others too.

It's not fair to compare clear outs and loss leader type sales though. Each oil has an average price.
Wasn't tying to compare ... just showing some crazy stuff Walmart is doing with on-line oil prices. Maybe it's a good time to get some of that if still possible instead of looking for regular sale prices or rebates.

because the warren copypastes are fairly high noack, low end II+/III blend oils and probably not much better than the SP-only offerings out there. that’s not to say it isn’t more than enough for the average driver.

Being SP and d1G2 pretty much covers the OEM approvals.

I don’t think there is anything wrong with SuperTech, just not my choice of oil. I used to be convinced it was bad because one of our master techs misdiagnosed some engine damage saying it was caused by the brand of oil and I knew to believe it because he was a master tech.
Did he conclude that because the vehicle was doing top speed runs on the autobahn? 😄 What was the cause?

I’m actually OK with Super Tech however keep in mind that many companies meet the API specs and that’s it. Some companies, especially with continuous R&D programs, might beat those specs but it’s all hard to prove. For myself I have 220,000 miles on an engine that used various name brands of synthetic oils, none of which were Super Tech. If you have 220,000 miles on yours using Super Tech you can share bragging rights. It not...well...... ;)

I think beyond the bottle. ST can’t exist without large integrated petrochemical companies. OEM’s rely on these companies to reach the next level together. I work globally and the aviation, marine, ground transportation, heavy equipment, and power generation sectors I am emerssed in rely on the big companies …

I buy plenty other things from Walmart and ST is a pretty limited purchase for me …

I think of SuperTech oil as being like the toilet tissue at the office, while GTL base stock PP is like the toilet tissue at home. Both perform the exact same function but........

That said their new 20k synthetic may prove your point exactly.

20K intervals won't work in all engines. There's no way that's a good idea in a TGDI engine.

After joining here I learned it wasn’t true. And then you’ve got people like my friend who thinks all oil that comes from Walmart no matter the name on the bottle is fake because they sell it cheaper.

Really? Do you have documentation to back up your claim? If true they are doing some amazing things with group II+ and III+ base stocks.
go read the SDS and then go one by one and look for C15-30 in every base oil offering. petrocanada is the only ones offering a base oil with that in their SDS. both their second lightest GII and GIII are listed to use it, but VHVI (III) has the extra remark "baseoil unspecified"

more than likely it is a blend
