Figured id ask the question m1 0w40 vs pp euro l 5w30 in a na motor?
I’ll post the results of M1 FS 0w40 going into my son’s new 2012 F350 6.2L gas engine.
He bought the truck with 224,000 kms two weeks ago. The OLM read 92%, the oil was clean and on the full mark.
The oil fill cap is 5w20 and that’s what the previous owner used. 2016 and newer have a 5w30 oil fill cap
A week and 1,300 kms later he arrived at my place to steal my 295/65/20 Toyo tires and put them on Ford wheels.
We checked the oil and it was half a quart below the add line.
Shocker. His 2013 5.3L SLT uses one litre of XW40 in 13,000 kms.
Killing time waiting for the tires to get switched over, we ended up at Canadian Tire where the 0W40 was on sale.
By the time I got my 45 year old toddler out of the store, he had picked out $158 worth of stuff that took all my Canadian Tire money.
I topped up the oil with 0w40 and sent him on his way to Vancouver for his paramedic recertification course.
I bought 6 jugs of the M1 FS 0w40 over a year ago when it first came out in the thicker blend.
That will go into the 6.2 for the next four oil changes.
Lots of highway kms plus a thicker oil should clean up the engine over time and reduce oil consumption.
