New Mobil 1 C40 GT 0W-40

Semi pro ice racing on Minnesota lakes when it is -28.
How is that relevant? 0W is cold pumping measured at -35. That does not mean 5W cannot operate at lower temperatures.
Then, no racing engine is started just before race. They will start before that, probably in garages. After that, it is irrelevant whether it is -28 or -50 outside or whether oil is 0W or 15W.

It’s called not understanding the question.

There are A LOT of oils missing from that list.
Makes it easier when people come and post what oil is best for my xxxx? We can nitpick a smaller list of approved/licensed as other group says to heck with Porche, they're (throw in a myriad of engineers are dweebs, CAFE makes the rules, Marketing makes the rules, Beancounters make the rules, I wear a tinfoil hat etc, etc, etc.).
I vote Rotella in your Porche 'cause some guy on tick-tock puts it in his Harley.

No, I mean there are bunch of approved C40 oils that are missing.
Motul has Specifc C40 and it is not on the list. There is no way Motul will list something as approved but it is not.
They stopped sale of SN oils when SP hit the road.

Don't know the answer. I see if it's C40 it's supposed to be Porsche approved. So it doesn't make sense to not list all approved oils.
Edited because I was stupid.

Doesn't Porsche require the oil be submitted for their in-house testing, which includes tests beyond C40 before they'll make it "approved" for Porsche?
Depends on blender.
Motul? Probably not. Motul will buy additive package from Infineum, and submit request for approval with documentation.
Company I worked for was smaller blender. We had to submit samples for testing to all manufacturers.
And manufacturers will check samples from stores, at least that was the case 20yrs ago.
So, it is at manufacturer discretion how they approve oil.

Said before, but Porsche oil recomendations are suspect. When they came out with C40 GT and said it should used on all 991 generation GT 911s and newer. Previously they said C40 oils used in A40 spec'd cars (911.1 GTs) should not be used, and in certain language would void warranty.

That being said C40 GT is a great oil.

The list was accurate at the time of publication, but there are indeed some oils that are back on the latest list (or more correctly the latest one that I've sighted - see below). I posted recently on another thread that the Motul X-Clean gen2 was reformulated to meet SP in 2024, so the C40 approval was dropped and the Specific C40 now carries the approval. There was a brief period when Motul did not have an approved oil and that seems to have coincided with the publication date of the list previously linked. The previously approved Ravenol RUP has been completely dropped.
