Q: About today's Mobil 1 0W-40 line up

I ask because a friend who shoots at my local gun club, drives a beautiful 2005 Ram SRT-10 with the V-10 Viper engine in it. The engine went south due to a failed rocker arm at around 150K miles.

He had the vehicle shipped to Dave's Auto Center in Utah for a complete rebuild. They mentioned to him to switch to Motul oil with more viscosity, instead of the Mobil 1 0W-40 he was using.

It cost him around $30K for all of the work you see being done here. Parts for this engine are getting extremely difficult to locate. And they are very expensive when you do find them.

So would one suggest to continue to use the 0w-40 fs now that it has the sn rating? or go elsewhere as I can't source anything else locally from mobil1. Car is a vw golf r

Yes, it has VW 502, totally fine for any Golf R.
