Ok!we learn something everyday!i just did.in the sn oil certification there is another called SN-RC (RESSOURCE CONSERVATION )my question .do those actually exist yet?i havent met one container saying it is a sn-rc oil
That means it's SN/GF-5, that's all. You'll rarely see the actual initials RC on bottles of oil you'll see here. I've seen it on Eneos bottles and some of the other Japanese brands.
Ok so the sign will say sn and in there will be written Resource Conserving.ty for help in understanding .was expecting sn-rc when in fact they literally say in the api logo if it is ressource conserving .so subtle i missed it probably 100 time lol.
Api descriptionThe Resource Conserving supplemental category requires further properties. The former supplemental category, which was called Energy Conserving required only fuel saving properties from the oil. Resource Conserving requires further properties like:
emission system protection
turbocharger protection
compatibility with engines operating on ethanol containing fuels, up to E-85
Would this not be ILSAC GF-5 in multigrades lighter than, and including 10w30. IIRC, API SN in the lighter multigrade are also requited to meet current ILSAC and display the approval starburst.
