Exactly. 10 to 25% PAO, 25 to 50 % hydrotreated per SDS. Perhaps even a majority of conventional (group I/II):

Ravenol VMP 5W-30 had BMW LL-04 before and got that approval again for some time.
Many will remember that mess with BMW's approvals, impairing all blenders.
If in doubt check Ravenol's own site instead of Ravenol-America/Blauparts.

Hi all, newb here bumping the thread again. I have a '23 Supra and about to do my first oil change. I live in central FL, so cold days arent "cold" per say. Wanted to get some insight as to the right move to make when it comes to oil. Given my warm climate and that I'll be doing the occasional track day, I was going to move to a 5w40.
Thinking one of these options:
Penzoil Platinum Euro
Castrol Edge Euro
Valvoline Euro
Motul X-cess Gen 2
Is there any reason to go with any of those over the other? Any other advice from those that know more than me in regard to oil (I know very little) is appreciated.

I would go Pennzoil and Motul of those on the list. Add Mobil1 0W40. You don’t need 0W (nor 5W) but I am strictly speaking from quality and performance perspective.

Rethinking, B58 is LL17FE oil, which is low-SAPS oil. I would go LL04, something like Pennzoil Platinum Euro L in Wal mart, or Mobil1 5W30 ESP, Motul X-Clean+ EFE 0W30.
Pennzoil Euro L is still only $26.44 on the shelf at Walmart.
Ah, has something changed since throughout this thread, LL01 seemed to be the right choice? Looks like the Penzoil L only comes in 5w30, but sounds like that's a negotiable difference from the 5w40 options

Both LL01 and LL04 are good. LL04 is basically Low-SAPS "version" of LL01.
The grade is irrelevant. Both LL01 and LL04 require a minimum HTHS 3.5. Due to fuel efficiency requirements, the usual upper limit is HTHS of 4cP. So, between 3.5 and 4, oils usually come in XW30 and XW40 flavors.
Yeah, would like VW 504 and MB229.52 specs though.
LL-04 is probably preferred for the B58, as it's lower SAPS and better efficiency in some respects.
Also could lead to lower intake valve deposits.
Bother offer the same thickness/protection levels in normal circumstances.
LL-01 is the way to go if you are tuned, however.

Yes, that is the correct one.
I went with castrol edge euro 0w-30 from amazon for my b58.

Yep. That was basically repackaged BMW TPT 5W30 LL04 before BMW switched to Castrol.

Still IMO best oil for European engines where Low-SAPS is not absolutely required.
I was very happy with this 5w30 from my last oil change in July for a '17 540ix (pics of the bottle here https://bobistheoilguy.com/forums/threads/castrol-euro-5w-40-sp-in-the-wild.371725/post-6623573 ) the car feels smoother and quieter at idle than the OEM 0w20 the dealership used
But I just picked this up at Napa, the quart was $6.50 (WA state) but I picked up two 5Qs for $75 (includes tax) and looking forward to seeing how 5w40 runs
