I've posted it on other sites without issue, not sure why I am having formatting issues here. I am going to print, scan and try posting that way in a moment.

update: no go....for whatever reason I'm unable to get this formatted in a way the site will accept it.

The hard part is finding anything newer than 2020 because BMW shutdown newtis.com and those who do have access are stuck with information which is current at the time. Still a great resource for older models.

Note: I have access but haven't signed on in a while so I'm just going off memory.

if you have the full version of adobe acrobat standard, you can save the pdf pages of a file as jpgs

That engine is designed around heavy W30 and lighter 40 grades. But, you could pretty much run anything in it. There is no such thing as overkill.
Take into consideration that when you say "grade" that is KV at 100c. Your BMW in regular driving is running around 109-113c. That means that at regular driving, your oil is bit thinner than you think. That is why HTHS is important and not grade per se. There are different oils, some meeting minimum requirements, some exceeding it. Generally, oils with lower KV100 but really good HTHS are top of the line oils. Motul Gen2, Castrol 0W40, Castrol Edge 0W30, Pennzoil 5W40, etc. are all superb choices. Motul X-Clean+ 5W30 would be prime example of superb oil, as it has KV100 of 11.6 and HTHS of 3.6 and it is LL04. Valvoline European Vehicle is at 13.1 KV100 and HTHS 3.7, which is really good.
Again I would go with approved oils for LL01 and LL04, regardless of weight.
If you decide to track vehicle, than we are getting into different conversation.
there are some new changes at the specs of motul x clean+ 5w30:
VI 100 c is 11.8
hths is 3.5
flash point 226
pour point -36
noack 10% from what i remembered in another topic
https://azupim01.motul.com/media/mo...x-clean__5w-30_en_fr_motul_17720_20230214.pdf

is it still considered a superb oil?or 3.5 hths makes it not superb anymore?

bcs. there are a lot oils with almost same specs like this one:
https://msdspds.castrol.com/bpglis/...C5DBEA980258A0500375AF2/$File/wepp-cuj924.pdf
ok hths is not mentioned but min. would be 3.5 like motul's
or some shell, fuchs,LM, 5-30s most of them hths would be minimum with 3.5,so
what exactly makes this motul a superb oil? by the way bcs on writting we can not express the way we mean sthing, i am not sarcastic,i am curious ..i have used it once and found it good, but why superb in compare the others you mention or i mentioned?

They have new X-Clean+ 0W30 EFE that has pour point-51.
That one 5W30 I used in Atlas and returned excellent UOA.

I have now mix of ESP SN and SP. But I have new EFE on shelf. It is still hard to find. They just got it into distribution.

I have a new LCI X5 40i with the TU2 engine. The oil sticker under the hood says to use 0W12 and the manual says to follow that. I'm trying to stay away from 0W12 and at a minimum, I'd use a 0W20 but the owner's manual on page 368 has no mention of 0W20 as a suitable oil. Now the 2024 X6 40i owner's manual on page 359 says 0W20 is a suitable oil. I would assume the 24 X6 uses the TU2 engine also. Any idea why the a difference?
2024 X5 40i in the US come with B58TU2 engines, and more specifically, B58N for short and B58B30M2. Here is the most reason technically suitable oil matrix:

As you can see, if your car doesn't have a GPF (gasoline particulate filter) (identified via optional equipment code SA1DEA RDE exhaust emissions standard), then you can use LL01FE, LL12FE (if in EU), LL17FE, and LL22FE.

If your car comes with a GPF, then you can't use LL01FE.

Interesting how BMW has begun pulling LL01 and LL04 from the B58.

Why would you not just use LL04?

Which is specced for vehicles with a GPF
