There are advantages to black cars you might not have realized.
I was driving a 2014 Mazda6 in black, and this was the base model with black grille. That was the first year for that body. The entire car was basically blacked out except for a little bit of chrome trim around the windows, and it looked downright sinister. One of Mazda's best recent designs.
On interstate highways, when I was in the passing lane passing other traffic, people ahead would move over for me as I came up behind them. They thought I was a cop in an unmarked car, is my guess.![]()
Rally nice looking PU.Black is definitely my favorite vehicle color, at least as long as I can keep it clean! My grandpa’s hand me down 96 Tacoma in high school was black, and my current 2013 F-150 is as well.

I know how lucky I have been to have (2) garages at my house. One is double attached to house where both cars sleep and spend all their down time. Have another garage in back yard that was used to store classic cars and my boats. She is empty now except for spider webs. Point is the garages make a hell of a difference in keeping any vehicle in great shape. Cuts down on amount of washing and waxing needed per year also.Pic I took this spring, looks great freshly waxed. Looks grubby exactly one day later with dust and springtime pollen.

In general I am not a fan of black cars but there are exceptions.
Thank you! It’s really been a great truck so far. I like it well enough that I’m hoping that I can get at least another 5 years/100k out of it without to much issue, and I‘d hope at that point the truck market might calm back down to more reasonable prices.Rally nice looking PU.
Not black but dark enough for me, wash is good for one day then the dust monsters are back.

Without question, this is a beautiful color on your car.
Once you go black you never go back...Of course in response to @Zee09's thread on white vehicles, have you owned, or would you own, a black vehicle?
We've owned several black vehicles:
- 2002 Expedition Eddie Bauer, black with tan leather interior
- 1982 Mercury Capri "Black Magic"
- 2016 Dodge Durango Limited, Black on Black
- 2018 RAM 1500 Big Horn (EcoDiesel) black on black leather
- 2019 RAM 1500 Sport (current) black on black
- 2020 Grand Cherokee SRT (x2) black on black extended leather
Been looking at BMW X5's in black on black lately, which are, IMHO, absolutely gorgeous.

When I still could dabble in one of my many hobbies (the auto detailing) I used to wax and shine my vehicles so much I could not take my F150 to the gas station without being approached by folks to ask me "did you have your truck re-painted by a local company?" They wanted to know who painted it I guess in case they wanted a paint job done. Anyway, all I could do was smile and say, well actually the Ford Motor company did that paint job at the factory.I have a black F150 and a white F150. They are both Super Crew. The white one is hotter due to no window tint. The black one is far better looking.
Love that gold / black color scheme. Chevy put out a Cosworth Vega that came in those gold / black colors that looked pretty good too.I had a 1976 Mercury II Capri made in Germany. It had a 2.8 liter V-6, 4 Speed manual, and factory dual exhaust. Same paint job as the Le Cat Black, shown.
