I do not like the difficulty in maintaining the perfect clear coat on a black car. It does look the best when you just finished spending all day on a wash, clay bar, multi stage polish and wax. you cant get away with the stuff i can on a white car. Only a few hand washes a year, mostly using a coin op spray wash to keep it looking clean.

When I lived in Amish/ Mennonite country... learned from the Mennonites' that cars are to come in only one color... black...
Was later told that one should never buy a black car in Amish/ Mennonite country, as the Mennonites' are rumored to not believe in preventative vehicle maintenance or caring about their vehicles. This was unconfirmed. But I did buy a black Pontiac Grand Prix GXP at auction in Amish/ Mennonite country... and it was super trashed and could not get the interior clean no matter what I tried.

I had one black car, and I would never go back; two problems with black cars: demanding color, and if you live in southern states the heat is almost unbearable for occupants on the inside, plus if it sits on the outside during the summer months it is affecting rather all car parts in the long run
I’ve had two black Volvo wagons. They drove me nuts keeping them clean and waxed. They were stunning when perfect. Which lasted about a day.

I think we have owned one black car in my life that’s the 1977 Alfa Romeo Spider that we sold years ago. I have considered painting the beetle black because you hardly see any black ones but then again I like keeping the car original so I’ll probably keep it yellow. Personally if you are going to buy a car I couldn’t see why you wanted a black car or truck. It’s all about color to me most of the time.
I agree on the 'no body lines' arguement, even though 90 % or so of
my cars were black. Only 33 % of my current cars though (the GTI). It's
'Deep Black Pearl'. I would have prefered plain black, but it hasn't been
available no more in 2017.
The Mini Cooper is 'Reef Blue' while the Turbo is 'Oak Green'. I'd love
to have the GTI painted 'Oak Green' too, but it's been a 2000+$ option
and with its many red details it doesn't need being more colourfulness.

I don't think the bug would look good black.
I owned a 1993 Toyota MR2 in black that looked great. I tried to avoid machine car washes so the paint looked pretty good after several years but it was a PITA to keep clean.
When I bought my 2009 Nissan 370Z I wanted black. I searched all over Sou. Cal and located one online with the 6 speed manual that I wanted. I drove 100 miles and when I got there the car had an automatic and the website listing was in error. I ended up with silver, which was the fourth silver car I had owned.
When shopping for my Jaguar F Type I saw that they had a color called Santorini Black. It looked great in the online pictures. When I saw that color in person it was metallic and I didn't like it. It would have looked awesome in a traditional gloss black but I was thwarted again.

I loved the version of black my 2017 Ram 1500 was. It was the first black vehicle I ever owned. I don't normally pursue a specific color. It depends on the deal.

Imo black cars look very elegant and classy!!
I don't think there's a best colour, some cars look better with different ones. I'm not going to spend much time washing and shining a DD so I'd never choose a new black car, but I would drive one if the price was right for a used one.
