That was news to me.
The correct comparison would be between PPE 5w-40 and the new Valvoline Synpower 0w-40. They both meet the same specs.
The MST 5w-40 would be good for a modern diesel though.

There is always something newer/better coming out.
I got this PPE from PepBoys last week. They had it on pretty decent sale.
Probably true for some European engines, but for some older European engines M1 or Castrol 0W40 can be used without problems.
Also, some Japanese engines can just use any API oil with no protesting at all. Like my S2000, I just dump anything similar to xW30 into it and it just run, currently I have a mixed Castrol Edge 5W20 and 0W40 and the engine is as quiet(or as noisy) as can be.
