2500 miles or 3 months oil change

I've found 5k/6 month (whichever comes first) OCI is the sweet spot with most vehicles.
I personally prefer to only use Dexos 1 Gen 3 Full Synthetic High Mileage oil (to treat oil seals as well to prevent future oil leaks).

This interval and oil prevents sludge/varnish buildup.

Some things which convinced me this this is the right interval:
A few videos on youtube about "Million mile Joe", who owned an early 1990's Honda Accord since new and took it to 1,000,000 miles doing oil changes about every 5,400 miles.

Also there is another video about a husband/wife traveling performers in the south who took a 1990's era Honda Civic hatchback to 500,000 miles doing oil changes every 5,000 miles.

See, I love my Jeep 😄 Once I hit 25k miles I will drain all that crappy Lucas that gear shop put in my gears

Or you could pull a sample and have it tested. Especially if you know what oil the shop used. That got to be well over $100 of oil.
Plus if you operate in wet conditions you may want to go cheaper and change more often if you get water in the diff.

How old is that mobil1 0w-40 test?
Looks like the 40 weight sheared down to a healthy 30 weight.
I thought I read on here "it didn't do that any more".
The oil changed late Apr (2024), then got the report mid-May...here is my BITOG posting when I got my Blackstone analysis back.

Plus those are Blackstone tests which are unreliable in several ways, not the least of which is measuring fuel dilution. On that an analysis there is zero way to determine if a viscosity deviation is due to thinning by fuel or mechanical shear of the VM. They are useless in this regard.

Assuming the viscosity measurement is accurate as well.

There are several things other than oil on the Jeep 3.6. I own Caravan with same engine and did lots of study as I want mine to last. I idle it alot and when I get on interstate I run it hard. My suggestion is questioned alot but after running for 36k in 6 years I noticed idle changed so I started running midgrade to get extra additives. There are reports of failure of valve guides and rockers. I can't find the article where Dodge stated were from to soft valve guides. According to this the use of 87 octane at idle was causing slapping of valve from ping so they hardened valve seat. (Problem still occurs) Whether or not I run midgrade and change oil yearly, I believe that running regular is a overall cost that consumers wanted not what is best. If you stop the inefficient explosion then you stop misfires from valve guides which also causes valve to hit rockers violently. There was a guy on here a couple of years ago that ran super and Amsoil that got over 200k without rocker failure.
Our older company '15 Grand Caravan has 198K, to my knowledge it's never been opened up, valvetrain sounds normal to me (always gets 87 octane).

Yes I completely concur with your decision. I run in a severe condition of a lot of idling on the freeways and that contributes to a lot of fuel dilution in my oil. I don't need a oil analyzer company to tell me that my oil smells like fuel. So I do my oil changes frequently and never go over 3K. I did go the route of using the high cost boutique oils that emptied my wallet rapidly. And realized that I did not feel a running difference on the engine, and also realized I could do three oil changes for the price of one 5-quart Boutique oil. So my decision was simple. But that is just me in my particular driving conditions. Good job! Changing your oil is cathartic experience and your engine loves it! My old 4Runner when doing a 4K oci, it always perked up afterwards.
The ol' Camry always seems to "feel happier" when it has fresh oil.

In the FWIW Dep't., the Camry's oil gets changed about every 6-mos, and that's generally less than 3,000 miles, 90% of which are shorter trips around town.
Guys, I love my Jeep and oil change takes 20 minutes and $35. So I have decided to change the oil every 2500 miles. Oil goes in nice and clean and comes out nice and clean. Am I stupid?
While the OCI may be excessive, and might easily and safely be extended a bit, the manner in which the Jeep is used should be considered and discussed. I've read through about 2/3rds of the thread, and don't recall this being mentioned.

If you're doing a lot of low speed, low gear, trail work, maybe along with a fair amount of around-town driving, the 2,500 mile OCI seems somewhat reasonable, but if there's a lot of highway driving with the engine getting fully warmed and heated, then you may very well be able to extend your 2,500 mile interval.

There has been some discussions about too frequent ol changes causing excessive wear, but it's been a while since I've read those threads and won't comment now.

I do tons of driving in 4Lo crawling up steep trails in PNW. My coolant temp touches 230 and fan brings it down to 220 and then it again climbs to 230, and this goes on. Oil temp is also 220+. When I crawl down, I use 4Lo and 2nd or 3rd gear and engine rpm is 2500 - 3500 to keep me slow.

Obviously that’s fine, but don’t do what most people do, which is obsessing over the easiest thing to obsess over on a car, the engine oil. Your vehicle has other fluids aswell…. Brake fluid, coolant, trans fluid, ps fluid, front center and rear diff, grease points etc. keep up with those too.

Yet the OP is borderline trolling by asking a bunch of strangers.
Ah the classic bitog trolling accusation. I’ve been suspended from this forum years ago for literally asking a good question about engine oil filter choice. Got banned for trolling. When I genuinely was curious and uneducated on the topic. I truly ponder once a month on why people on this forum love to call other people trolls. Who tf would even troll that way
