Guys, I love my Jeep and oil change takes 20 minutes and $35. So I have decided to change the oil every 2500 miles. Oil goes in nice and clean and comes out nice and clean. Am I stupid?
Why is that?Guys, I love my Jeep and oil change takes 20 minutes and $35. So I have decided to change the oil every 2500 miles. Oil goes in nice and clean and comes out nice and clean. Am I stupid?
Your picture looks like an advertisement for tire shine. Did you use it on the ramps too?
It is over maintaining, but its up to you.Guys, I love my Jeep and oil change takes 20 minutes and $35. So I have decided to change the oil every 2500 miles. Oil goes in nice and clean and comes out nice and clean. Am I stupid?
I offroad a ton, and I want my Jeep to last 500,000 milesWhy is that?
As someone who has taken a vehicle to nearly 500k that’s more up to the Jeep than the oil.I offered a ton, and I want my Jeep to last 500,000 miles
No tire shine, it was rainingYour picture looks like an advertisement for tire shine. Did you use it on the ramps too?
One could argue that messing with components a lot more often than necessary (such as oil filter housings, caps, other plastic items, etc.) may contribute to a faster deterioration of those items, along with more opportunities to forget things and perhaps cause damage.Otherwise it's a bit wasteful, but does give an opportunity to catch some unrelated issues early: like an oil leak from engine, transmission, transfer case, or differentials.
Then don't let strangers on internet dictate your hobbiesI write code for a living and life sucks. Changing oil on my Jeep is fun, I love doing it
How about just giving it a wash, wax, interior detail instead?I write code for a living and life sucks. Changing oil on my Jeep is fun, I love doing it
YES-if you have the plastic oil filter/cooler housing, get that thing off there & replace it with the Dorman aluminum one!One could argue that messing with components a lot more often than necessary (such as oil filter housings, caps, other plastic items, etc.) may contribute to a faster deterioration of those items, along with more opportunities to forget things and perhaps cause damage.
It's all relative, but there will be a point beyond which reasonable OCD-ness becomes detrimental.
As for a Jeep (any Jeep, or car for that matter) to make it to 500K miles, I think you have far greater enemies to worry about rather than the OCI. Just taking on rust alone can break down even the most positive of souls.
Yet the OP is borderline trolling by asking a bunch of strangers. Then don't let strangers on internet dictate your hobbies
I know a guy who started doing door dash and UberEats just to be able to service his car more often. Changes oil monthly now, ATF quarterly, and he is a happy as a Motorhead can be.
I see. Perhaps quit your job and service your Jeep twice a day?I write code for a living and life sucks. Changing oil on my Jeep is fun, I love doing it
