Six Months Minimum oil change interval on Synthetic Oil ?

Valvoline said 120 days .
Valvoline can handle much longer than that. Personally, if you have a modern GDI engine I would say 6 months or 5000 miles, whichever comes first. I recently changed my 2025 Toyota Rav4 at 6 months with only 2100 miles on it. I sent in an oil sample to Polaris Labs and got flagged with 2.5% fuel dilution and some loss of oil viscosity. Toyota requires a maximum 5000 mile/6-month oci interval to maintain my warranty. They refer to it as "severe service I think".

I got a year on my 23 Santa Fe 2.5 turbo. But it's not short tripped. The new Mazda CX30 turbo I bought seems to be worse on the oil. It's driven much more and only short trips would be from moving it away from trees during storms or to wash it. I'll have to get a uoa next change and see how it looks. Both run Pennzoil Platinum Euro 0w40.

I do 1yr (usually ~6 mo) / 6K on our 23 DI Subaru, and 2yr (usually 15-18mo) 15K on our 13 PI Subaru . Both using a 20K oil (M1EP, M1AC) UOAs have been fine. It's easiest just to use mileage and not worry about oil age. It isn't going to go bad in your engine for several years.

My '16 Camry just turned 70k miles. I change it when the car throws a service msg. I use cheapest 0w20 I can find with an OEM filter. I have no clue how Toyota established the OCI. I'm not that curious about the Camry. When it needs stuff, I replace it. Tires, Brakes, a battery To quote the late great Tom Magliozzi of Car Talk fame: "If you don't think too good, don't think too much"

I recall having a 2001 Volvo and 2005 Honda that recommended a 7500 mile OCI. Some cars purchased since then have recommended a 10k OCI and my daily driver PHEV calls for 20k. Where this six month / 4-6k OCI advice comes from these days I have no idea. My opinion is based upon UOAs on all of our current and several prior vehicles. Obviously your mileage may vary.
