Hello everyone.

As an added unadvertised benefit Valvoline Restore and Protect brought me back to BITOG !!

Valvoline Restore and Protect anyone ?
I used and still remember VSOT !

I've been a member since 2004, and just wasn't logging in or posting often lately.

My recent experience inspired me to post again.

Here's the story:

2016 Chevy Trax 1.4 L beater with about 145 K miles.

The Trax was consuming about half a quart of SuperTech 5W30 20K mile Advanced Full Synthetic per 6K OCI .
I am also using the SuperTech oil filters on this vehicle.
This has been it's "oil change interval diet" for years now.

Also noteworthy that there was some slight seepage at the front main seal, though not enough to cause a drip.
The seepage crept in gradually and was visually monitored then wiped off each OCI.
The other consistent behavior was that on each oil change interval the oil would become visibly dark during the first 500 or so miles, ( stuck piston rings? ) .

Recently, I by chance looked at some Lake Speed Jr. videos regarding Valvoline Restore and Protect.
Following this "I took the plunge".

After one oil change interval with Valvoline Restore and Protect , I am a believer !!

On the following oil change interval with SuperTech the oil has maintained a clean appearance ( though not perfectly clean ) with about 4K miles on the SuperTech .
Speculating the Valvoline Restore and Protect unstuck some piston rings ?

The oil consumption is nil after about 4K miles, and the front main oil seepage has visibly stopped.

Hard to document, however the vehicles reported fuel economy has improved about 1.5 MPG since Valvoline Restore and Protect.
I perceive a little more power on full throttle as well.

I can't call this placebo.

This product worked as advertised for me in this instance.

Gonna run Valvoline Restore and Protect on everything in my fleet that is not "Warranty restricted" ( DEXOS ) from now on.

Rickey.

Welcome back!

I suppose Valvoline Restore and Protect has had a similar effect with me, too. I just put some in my trusty ol' '95 Civic with almost 218K miles on the clock, and about 400-ish miles into the first run with it. The oil immediately preceding it was AMSOIL ASL 5-30 with about eight ounces of Auto-Rx added since I had some around. It will be very interesting to see what Valvoline Restore and Protect will do. Admittedly, the valvetrain looked pretty good when I tried using my borescope to scope it out. And the dipstick was spotless as well. We'll see.

For a GM 1/2 qt per 1k isn't bad but if you can try to improve it with Valvoline why not try. Welcome and let us know how it goes.

Welcome Back! Pay no attention to the inevitable "Not another Valvoline Restore and Protect thread..."

Valvoline Restore and Protect is today's version of German Castrol. Its technically different, but the BITOG mystique is all there. Dirty engine = Valvoline Restore and Protect. Feeling lousy = Valvoline Restore and Protect. Marriage on the rocks = Valvoline Restore and Protect.

Welcome back and thanks for reporting about the VRP oil!

Did you go back to the SuperTech oil after only one oil change with VRP or I got it wrong? If yes, I donMt think that is right. You should keep the Valvoline R&P oil for at least 2-3 oil changes to make sure it did its job.

Also, I don't think it's wise to run the SuperTech more than 4,500-5,00 miles, especially in an oil burning car. With the miles the engine starts burning more and more oil because the oil properties wear out.

I also have observations that VRP stopped my rear main seal leakage. But will report that additionally with pictures.
Wow so it helps oil burning and leaks too? I’m using it in my 182K mile RX 350 that seeps a bit of oil. I was actually concerned it might make it worse but after researching it seems that’s not a big concern.
