Hello everyone.
As an added unadvertised benefit Valvoline Restore and Protect brought me back to BITOG !!
Valvoline Restore and Protect anyone ?
I used and still remember VSOT !
I've been a member since 2004, and just wasn't logging in or posting often lately.
My recent experience inspired me to post again.
Here's the story:
2016 Chevy Trax 1.4 L beater with about 145 K miles.
The Trax was consuming about half a quart of SuperTech 5W30 20K mile Advanced Full Synthetic per 6K OCI .
I am also using the SuperTech oil filters on this vehicle.
This has been it's "oil change interval diet" for years now.
Also noteworthy that there was some slight seepage at the front main seal, though not enough to cause a drip.
The seepage crept in gradually and was visually monitored then wiped off each OCI.
The other consistent behavior was that on each oil change interval the oil would become visibly dark during the first 500 or so miles, ( stuck piston rings? ) .
Recently, I by chance looked at some Lake Speed Jr. videos regarding Valvoline Restore and Protect.
Following this "I took the plunge".
After one oil change interval with Valvoline Restore and Protect , I am a believer !!
On the following oil change interval with SuperTech the oil has maintained a clean appearance ( though not perfectly clean ) with about 4K miles on the SuperTech .
Speculating the Valvoline Restore and Protect unstuck some piston rings ?
The oil consumption is nil after about 4K miles, and the front main oil seepage has visibly stopped.
Hard to document, however the vehicles reported fuel economy has improved about 1.5 MPG since Valvoline Restore and Protect.
I perceive a little more power on full throttle as well.
I can't call this placebo.
This product worked as advertised for me in this instance.
Gonna run Valvoline Restore and Protect on everything in my fleet that is not "Warranty restricted" ( DEXOS ) from now on.
Rickey.
