Some are $2 a quart, some are $20 a quart. Compare the typical property sheets and you'll notice differences. Amsoil.com has lot's of synthetic oil comparisons with other named brand oils. Lots of differences.

0W30 German Syntec or Esso XD-3.
5-30 Castrol Syntec
They are all good.
schaeffer's 9000 is the best i have used. amsoil series 3000 would be my next choice. used the amsoil series 3000 for three years in three cars with no issues. always use amsoil EaO oil filters.
redline, torco, and motul the very best...worst is schaeffers 9000
