Worst beater you've ever driven...

First year of college I had a VW Jetta that was only 10 years old at the time, but that had been put threw [censored]. Nothing worked well and I had to keep the RPM's up or it would stall.

But financially it was a good car, I got it for free, drove it for 6k miles doing nothing to it, and junked it for $250. Made out good on that one!

It was owned by my dads friends daughter who is famous for aging cars rapidly! Two years in her hands are about 10 for the average person!

I had a 260Z that had a folding canvas sunroof like a Citroen 2CV. Leaked like a sieve at the front edge. The visors were curved and would collect rain. Second date with a girl after a successful first date on the motorcycle...took the 260Z because it was raining. Guess whose date pulls down the visor to check her makeup? Freezing cold water all over her lap. It was a short date.

91 Olds silhouette. But it ran forever. It was white with black stripes, my buddy called it the space shuttle

So ugly, but it did have leather and rims, but it was mostly beat to sh$t

My girlfriend's 2000 caravan has no heat (we live in the northeast), no a/c, passenger window doesn't work (regulator broke, now has a 2x4 to keep the window up inside the door).

Rear hatch wont open from the outside, you need to use a screwdriver from the inside.
Spare tire is rust welded to the underside of the van. rusty brake lines (had to fix several leaks).

Also banged up and one of the tires is a slightly different size.

....But it does run great, the 3.3 engine and trans wont die on this thing

Goodness, some of these had me rolling..

Worst one owned? Wife's 95 Neon. Quite a bit went on that bad boy. Was already on it's SECOND head gasket when we finally unloaded for the wife's current beater (cavalier). Had quite a few stories with that one..

Miss it though...was fun to drive. Only car I've found that you could make a higher speed turn without stopping...

My grandma used to have this completely unmaintained 1990 Ford Probe that I used to borrow occasionally when I was young (17-19).

That thing was just terrible to drive around. And it was obnoxious red on red on red. There was so much red in that thing... The interior would burn your eyes.

There you go and I've seen some of those old 50s Chevies that were as bad as described(in fact there is a '55 next door, that's running neck & neck with GreeCguy's '58). Neighbor claims he's restoring it, but every time I go over there, there's more rust on the floor of his garage and he hasn't touched it... Yes it runs, he drove it home a couple years ago...

You guys ever wonder why Tow Mater's hood was missing in the movie Cars???...

I've driven some bad ones but have never been able to tolerate rust, get too bad I moved on to something else... I've driven a old Falcon with windows propped up inside doors , a Mustang II hit so hard the top was buckled, but that stuff is minor to what those old Chevies can be...

I bought my first car when I was ten yrs old, An 8 yr old , 53 Ford. I paid 5 $ and was handed the radiator , generator. carb and regulator. It had no gas tank, just a copper line to the floor. I got it running,it didn't have much for refinements. I sat on the rear seat cushion , so I could see over the windshield. And it has been uphill ever since. To a point, I've improved at car maintenance. The cars of the last 20 yrs are so much better than what I started with. Heck, I bet most of you guys would consider my present batch roughing it.

My former 93 regal was red on red, I loved it! It had character. In fact, my girlfriend told me that was one of the first things she liked about me.... my red on red regal sealed the deal!

I agree, my current car would be considered a "hooptie" to many.

Even if I had lots of cash to spend on a car, it wouldn't be anything late model, I simply prefer the old stuff. It's what I grew up with and what I know how to fix on my own.

1971 Chevy Impala...bought in 1985, had about 95k on it. Body in very rough shape. Dents, rust, peeling paint. Rain filled the trunk from rust around corners of rear window. A/C compressor out. Texas heat was brutal. Lots of night driving. Clear caulk stopped rain leak.

Paid 300. Drove app. 45k. During that time one set of tires, 2 tie rod ends, 1 starter, 1 timing chain.

Sold for 300.

The truest form of cheap transportation.

Id love to have one of those now with a 318 V8 and some American Racing Torque Thrusts or Crager Mags with white letter tires!

I like the concept but unfortunately this had the 225 slant 6. Indestructible but not at all fast...

Now that's not bad. Could lose the fake woody decal but not bad at all.
Mine was white, faded to off white, missing 2/3 of the paint on the hood and the tailgate was chained shut.
