World Premiere. Mazda CX-60.

I didn’t get that same impression from Thomas on his review of the interior. He really appreciated the simple lines plus having buttons for essential needs instead of using a touch screen. He did point out the width of the console and how it affected his right leg.
I'm blending my impressions from this video with his ones from the other showroom video, where he got into the interior a bit more.
The biggest knock was on the suspension and how the bumps were transmitted into the cabin and passenger. At one point he noted how the steering was affected by that. Would smaller tires help? That was one question but the weight of the batteries seemed to be his primary thought.
Yes, and how it got a little loose in the steering over a bump, that was another critique.
Thomas is a huge BMW fan. That should be noted. Nothing wrong with that but on occasion his bias will show. He calls Mazda the “Japanese BMW” but that might be a unfair comparison. I think Japan and Germany have different ideas on driving and handling.
That may be true (the difference between the Germans and the Japanese) but I also think that we are looking at a first kick at the can here and we'll likely see some improvements going forward.

It's not as dynamic (you'll note he critiqued that), the interior isn't quite up to the same level (though as you note, the price reflects that), and it just doesn't feel as "premium". I think it's a great first effort, but his review of the X5 is a lot more glowing, if you haven't watched it.

I expect Mazda will refine and improve it, as he noted, this is the first big RWD SUV they've ever made, there is going to be a learning curve.
They will learn from cx60 and incorporate it to cx70. Hence why Im content to buy a cx70. By and large, its going to be the 2nd YM, effectively.

I know that and you know that, but I just don't see most folks these days even knowing what those phrases mean much less caring. I guess if they start autocrossing them... 😁
My wife, who I had to explain the differences of FWD, AWD, RWD, and 4x4 too, prefers how a RWD vehicle feels to drive. She has asked for something RWD based for when it’s time to replace the van lol

I have only had first year models for all my cars new and used including VW Tiguan, Subaru Legacy, Honda Civic, Acura MDX.....

I have found great reliability however occasionally some extended programs on specific items in warranty like wheel bearings(Subaru). They also seemed to all get refreshed (free) improving transmission performance (Tiguan and MDX).

The most major issue I ducked was the early VW Tiguan's had incomplete body weld and would click in B pillar. VW bought those back mostly or had to gut interior. Oddly though our first year 2018 Tiguan has near average reliability in Consumer Reports however the 2019-present below average.....

Absolutely, as I've said. I think, for a first effort, this is really quite good!

From what I have read the CX70 will have a slightly wider chassis and body versus the CX60.

Same for the upcoming CX90.

Here is another review video out of Ireland. No driving in this video but the white interior along with the maple trim is much more pleasing than the black with aluminium trim that Thomas drove.

That may be a torque steer thing. Before the commonality of FWD vehicles, it was simply an entertaining thing we laughed at as teens... I mean who would actually want that? 😁 Now I see its value and prefer it for the women folk I look after.
