Which HPL for older truck?

It seems you don’t understand HPL. From my understanding, they don’t want to be a Mobil 1 or shell empire who formulate to a price point. HPL is purely about formulating the best performing product for their customers equipment. As I’ve said before, if one is seeking out HPL you aren’t just a casual diyer, you know what you are going for so flashy website makes zero difference.

I’m sure subie, Wilson and others know more about HPL’s mission too.
Might just need a teenager to help navigate the computer 😎

As subieroo has said before, us DIYer's are probably less than 1% of HPL's business so they won't have a flashy storefront. Anyone who goes looking for HPL is a motor oil freak and knows what they are going after, and will ask the company questions if needed!
I seriously doubt that. Otherwise why would they waste time bring a paid sponsor here for less than 1% of their business.

Lol where did I suggest making a flashy website? Or changing the price? I didn't say build an empire, SubieRubyRoo did. Strange jumps here.

i always just email mary jane and order. anything form 6 quarts to a drum. they send an invoice and i pay. easy as could be.

You can also get less than 6 quarts and mix and match quantities. That's my point. How would you know that? I didn't know that. I found that out by reading a random BITOG thread. That's an interesting way of letting new customers know that. Is it a big deal? No. But HPL could use some kaizen up in there.

In response to your third paragraph in the quoted post. I didn’t say price change, I was explaining how they formulate to a performance point, not a Walmart-mandated price point.

I'm as big of a fan as any - I've run it through my short lived owner experience in now 3 different vehicles and do so only because I truly believe it's as good as it gets and because I believe in supporting (with my own small dollars) a company that contributes here and is a non-corporate giant entity.

That being said.....

There are some folks, it appears, that take any suggestion that the website should contain the entire product consumer catalogue as a personal attack on a company or worse I guess. I get that one can call Mary Jane (I have a few times) and ask "do you have _______?" and if they do, she'll gladly send you an invoice for it. Cool. But if i know what I want I can log into my account, add to car, and buy. This could be a simple coding problem that their web designer didn't hook up correctly. Who knows. Either way, it doesn't negate the fact that I will continue to order from them what I see on their website.

I truly feel that social media is destroying our brains or ability to communicate without taking the worst possible bad faith intention out of any statement. Unfortunately, this site with almost all other forums about whatever, shows people get rather exercised over some kind of offense or perceived slight when otherwise educated people wouldn't communicate this way in person.

Shame this thread went from me asking about what grade for older to price, off shelf motor oils and folks saying it’s not worth it.

Mods: close this thread down as it’s gone way off the rails already. Too many posters don’t want to understand what HPL is.

Thank You

Who said HPL is not worth it?

We need 2 keep this Thread open, you originally were asking about the PCMO versus the HDEO from HPL, then you were going to get their Euro Oil, and now you are getting the CK-4 5W-30!

I think that the CK-4 Spec is better than the Euro Spec, there is a member here who is using the HPL CK-4 specked oil and has excellent results.
I know this is JMO, but in an old Lawnmower Engine I ran out of my oil and put in a Euro oil, and it still used oil, I then went 2 a CK-4 oil, and it did not use Oil.

While it’s nice to have those folks to call and all of us - myself included - have probably leaned on them for advice or whatnot prior to an order, the point of a website is to list all of the product catalogue so that a consumer can click and buy; you shouldn’t have to call a business and ask if they so happen to have something that is not listed.
100% agree, their site is very behind the times, to where it under-sells the quality of the product.

I inquired on here once about if they would ever consider offering a motorcycle oil, and the response was that they do but that it apparently wasn't listed on the site. The advice given was to "call Mary Jane" to place an order. I had never heard of Mary Jane, nor did I have her phone number/extention. I bought a known high quality motorcycle oil from a different company online instead, where ordering was instantaneous. There's definitely an "IYKYK" aspect to certain HPL products.
