Thinking of HPL 10w-30 NO VII for Dakota

Here it is

It emphasizes the suitability of 5W for colder temps. As of the hight temp value, it's just telling you you could get away with 10W. But nowhere does it say you cannot run a 5w as well (for higher temps). Remember, those manuals are NOT written for Bitogers 😀
Heck, looks like it came from a Briggs & Stratton manual 😷

That’s not what this shows. It indicates to only use 5w-30 UP TO 32F; and to not run 10w-30 below 0F. Look at the direction of the arrows, and which end is squared off versus pointing direction.
I can read. I understand this too very well. I ran 10w30 HDEO thru winter and it did fine. What a true quality oil like HPL does for things.

Either way I still will run 10w30 HPL HDEO 10w-30 again this winter. We haven’t had a “real winter” since 2010 around here anyhow. Doubt the 10w will hurt anything.

Funny. Logic from 40 years ago with engines far longer lived than your Dakota allowed 10w-30 in such temperatures. Nothing new and no fancy oils required.

Fancy high end oils have their place. I run HPL in two of my vehicles. But you have yet to give a compelling use case.

It’s your money, but if you were set on doing it anyway, then I’m not sure why you even asked any of this.

I’m done. I never had a case. I just mentioned something. Yes it’s my money and my vehicle to use whatever oil I want. My reason for using HPL is I just don’t have much faith in off the shelf PCMO oils. Wonder why WWilson has said kore than once here “HDEO is where it is at”. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔

Flip a coin. HPL HDEO or No VII would be good for your truck. As an FYI, so will Supertech 10W-30.

Not much faith?!?

Ok. I guess the millions of the cars in the road going to the junkyard with a fine engine would beg to differ.

Engines that fail have other issues, not because of some imagined issue in OTS oils. Doubly so with HDEOs. If you want to run an HDEO, great.

I have no issue with HPL. I couldn’t care less that you want to use it. But your rationale seems flimsy. Your money though. Good luck.
