Oil quandary/question for 02’ Dakota

Good rainy Saturday folks. The HPL 5w30 CK4 HDEO oil seems to be working well in the 02’ Dakota. Wondering if a 10w30 would do same or…..

Have some Delvac 10w30 and some Providence all fleet synblend HDEO 10w30. Comments, questions and concerns and advice gladly welcome.

I would use either one you have one hand, no concerns it’s all 30 weight good oil anyway.

What are you hoping the Delvac and Providence do or don't do vs the HPL in the sump now?

If you do what a few other published folks have done with HPL, you could UOA sample and monitor oxidation and wear metals every 5-10k and decide each time what to do. Each engine will act differently so what your 3.9 or 5.2 or 4.7 or 5.9 will do will vary.

Personally I dont have that kind of patience, budget, or goals, or use case, but its what others have done.

I very well may do this. If the lady doesn’t use it in her daughters KIA Forte.

I can now see bare metal thru fill hole and note some carbon/gunk has flakes off. So, in my dumb, uneducated mind somethings working. No oil burn or leaks either.
