The suspense is over. Off late fathers 02’ Dakota, 2WD reg can Rx Verizon fleet pickup.

Oil was Rotella T5 10w30 and 1 quart HPL NO VII 5w20. Oil in drain pan was pitch black.

HPL 5w30 CK4 and OG ULTRA XG-16 on. Truck runs beautifully too. No carbon or gunk in pleats either.

Bit of grit there, but I think that's expected. Very interested to see what the next filter looks like with the HPL "full strength" application.

That Mopar looks like a Purolator filter. Seems like it did okay, except the little bit of wide media spacing. I saw your dipstick pic you posted & the oil did look black. You been driving it a lot or your Focus?

I drive it 2-3 days a week. Debating fixing rust on Focus or selling it. Dakota runs great.

Looks more like a Motorcraft (M+H made) because it has the same base end bypass valve. No Purolator uses the bypass valve design.
You're probably right. (y)

My son's 11' focus is pretty rusted along the rockers but refuses to sell it for now.. too handy of a ride. I just don't see many Dakota's hardly like I used to & always liked how they used the "big rig" looks from the Ram on the later ones.
