When did you realize you were old?

When my back started hurting a bit after riding my Triumph Thruxton cafe racer motorcycle. Still sitting in the garage for the temps to get back to sanity. Eagerly awaiting the first ride of 2026. Probably another 2 months to go. :(

When I began feeling the need to check the forecasted weather by either car radio or TV.

When I decided that women just weren't worth pursuing anymore.
I’m happily married, but I am in the same boat, about 10 years ago I realized if anything ever happened and I became single, I wouldn’t have the patience to deal with the modern self-centered attitudes out there, I’d just stay single as the juice no longer seems worth the squeeze.

Maybe today. I swapped a caliper on my ml320 on Friday, and had to roll around on the ground in 15F weather to bleed it again, last night. My whole body is sore.

I swam 2800yds earlier in the day, and none of that is sore, just the surfaces and muscles to roll around on the ground.

I think for me it was when I realized that I needed reading glasses to properly work on the computer, I think that was just before age 50 (I’m now 56)
The good thing is that my long distance eye sight is still very good so I can read road signs without any difficulty. But at the same time driving at night isn’t much fun anymore 😵‍💫

I am 70 and still feel pretty good. I am able to go hunting and fishing and feel blessed. I guess when I received my first SS payment it made me feel old at 66 1/2. I still work 20 hours per week at a large local car dealership in customer service and like my job. I did nothing for 2 years after retirement and was really bored so I went back to work and really enjoy my job. Picture taken in October.

If the car dealership thing falls through you can always model!

I do have a Part B: I did realize that I don't really want to climb on roofs anymore. There is that, around 60-65, no more pitched roofs!! It's a weird thing. My brain kinda wants to, but my body preservation says: NOPE!!

I'm now referred to as Unc/an elder at work
Punk kids 🙄
They ain't gonna let me live down turning 30 🤔
Soon I'll be old and irrelevant, @AutoMechanic will have to be our resident young person
6 7 I guess 🤷‍♂️
Apparently when you're birth year starts with a 19, you might as well be George Washington 👴

Lol. I don’t know man some days I feel old as heck. Physically and mentally lol. Theres days I hurt sometimes nothing major but been in auto shops for 7 years professionally so I guess it comes with the job. And then there’s people I work with that have never watched cable tv or seen a movie on disk or used a basic phone. Unbelievable to me but I guess it’s reality. I felt old the first time one of those young inspiring mechanics at work who is 16 told me he had never grew up with cable or a disk movie and only knew what Netflix was.

I've seen your rants and odd ways. You're a 75 year old man trapped in a 20 something year olds body :ROFLMAO:

SECOND POST IN THIS THREAD:
Mrs. Kira is an accountant. They're a very stayed group. Some would say dull.
One of them, a married man, leased a Wrangler soft top a few years back.
At a red light, a group of girls pulled up beside him.....
....and instantly squealed, "Ewww...it's a geezer", and sped off when the light turned green.

At an animal shelter's annual fund raising dinner, Mrs. Kira bragged to the other gals that I did all the cooking.
When I returned to the table, a young woman asked me, "Sir, do you have a son?"

I told a 40 year old yesterday that I have clothing older than they are.
I did that to a consultant from one of the big accounting firms. He was maybe 2 years out of college and started talking about how he had more work experience than anyone on the team we were on. I held up my tie and said that *it* had more work experience than he had.

I miss being able to speak my mind like that today.

You know you're old when you recognized any of these :D
