What happened to fast food accuracy?

I actually work in the fast food business, and I've seen things that would curl your hair-employees climbing out the DT window to brawl with mouthy customers, a manager THROWING a frappe blender pitcher at a customer (after the irate customer threw their order back at them first) so hard it broke the customer's orbital bone, it's a miracle the customer's eye wasn't put out! Numerous dining room/lobby rumbles that I was afraid to break up (bc I would probably get fired when some knucklehead sued the company). It's a thankless business, and MOST of them I wouldn't set foot in, much less buy something, on ,my own time.

Now that Lent is here I have been going to Mikey D's on Fridays. I have a total of 6 Filet-O-Fish this Lent so far. Each one has been uber tasty, moist and fresh. (They are much better/fresher when demand is up) I get two for $4.19 using the app. A dollar unsweetened Ice Tea and life is good for $5.67 with tax. It would cost me double that each week anywhere else to be a good Catholic. Fish at the grocery store is out of sight. King Crab Legs were $50 a pound two days ago.

I had the same issue with Chipotle and Popeyes. Popeyes was so bad I haven't been back after their customer service reps are "only allowed " to give a $5 gift card on incorrect orders. I ordered 3 different sides and got 3 sides of mashed potatoes.

It's weird. Three years ago we had a glut of lobster, and restaurants couldn't get rid of it, now restaurants are considering pulling it due to the cost.

When I worked at a McDonald's , they ran out of buns. I don't even know how that happens.
We went to a Taco Cabana many years ago one time. We both ordered cheese enchiladas. The counter chickadee quickly responded, "We're out of cheese". Mexican food is cheese, LOTS of cheese. What was even more asinine, there was a HUGE mega-sized HEB directly across the street that sells CHEESE. We were both totally flabbergasted.

I have to give a “Great Job!” to Chick-fil-a in Ashland, Virginia.

Ordered using the iPhone app twice recently, both times they got the order perfect!

Restaurant was busy too…

Nice Job!
Chick-Fil-A is definitely on the higher end of fast food chains. Higher quality food and higher quality employees.

Oh yeah, you always hear of various fights all over the place. Like an IHOP that was no longer 24 hours after too many fights at night. Another IHOP I went to had the phone number of the state police taped to the wall behind the hostess desk. Guess they needed to have that handy or it was meant as a warning to unruly guests.

They actually train their employees and they are always the most polite out there.

People come and go because they can.
They never even stay to learn the ropes. I see this all over.
Minimum wage never created issues with boomers, did it? Nope.
We live in a world of laziness and excuses.
Either you want to work or not. Welcome to our pampered society. Yeah, I know what's coming.
When I was in high school kids do min wage job and can buy toys they like, or they can afford to pay for their college working min wage job part time.

Today you are going to be lucky if you can work min wage job and pay rent and the student loan. Which is why most people with choices would just tough it out and either enter trade school early, or finish school fast with the right major so they can make a living doing a real job that is 3-6x min wage as starting salary. This does not exist back in the boomer days.

I will be telling my kids to try a min wage job one day, and do a simulation on charging them the cost of moving out on their own with a min wage job, and see how much they will be under water if they didn't finish school and find a real job.

Don't like the min wage job worker serving you with mistakes? Go to the higher end places that pays or treat their people better. They make less mistakes because they can be selective of who they hire, and they can charge more to screen out the customers who didn't pay enough for the service they expect. Eventually the lower end places will turn into a vending machine in a box and you order with your app, and you will never have to deal with the employees. Made a mistake on your order? Take a photo and file a claim to get 5x the store credit (they might have taken a photo of your food before they wrap it up so don't cheat) or refund. The take a photo and get a store credit thing already happened today, wife got a wrong noodle order and the store send her an e-gift card for the next order. Problem solved.

To me, a lot of the poorly run businesses really should have been closed down. This will be better for the owners, the management, the customers, the employees, the landlord in the long run.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. That's true for employers paying employees too, but it's hard to convince some employers of that.

I have two new hires right now - one is 21 and the other 22. The first day both cried because someone kindly corrected something one was repeatedly doing incorrectly and the other because and I'm not kidding, we would not let her set up her Barbie Dentists at her workstation (yes, I'm a dentist but no we don't set up Barbie dolls even if it's the dentist Barbie). Neither is going to last...they will probably end up in fast food and cry every time someone tries to train them.

Those 2 are going to have a hard time with life . Is it the schools , parents or social b.s ? All 3 I think . This feel good crap is creating 10's of millions of minds of mush .

Yes, if more places were like Chick-Fil-A, Chick-Fil-A would go out of business. Sometimes, I'm not even in the mood for a chicken sandwich, but just to avoid the BS of other fast food places...I'm eating a chicken sandwich.

Asked above: "I've got a question for you - how come you never get MORE than you order, or something of greater value?"

In 1975 I took my first trip to Boston with friends. Whilst foraging for food I got the idea to ask locals where good chow was to be found.
Enough locals recommended "The Great Wall", a Chinese restaurant the location of which I'd never be able to remember.

We ordered 4-5 entree's and got 7. We referred to that weekend's dinners as "feasts". Life's fun when you're 20 and traveling.

Geez. I don’t think they will go far.

Are those Barbie dolls the new ones with interchangeable gender modules? 🤣

I can't imagine what it is like to try and hire people these days. I'm 31, and even in my own generation I see both sides, those who work hard and are judged incorrectly because of their age, and also those who are the reason for the stereotypes of the younger generations.

The sad part is I'm sure they both were hired because on paper they had the qualifications/degrees required.

My father is an IT director and he says that out of the 3 categories he looks for (skill set, communication, and work ethic) the second two are the highest priority, since he can send good people to training. I feel for you because obviously in a dentist office skill set is the highest priority.

Fried food is a death trap no matter how one looks at it. I could never understand the endless line of cars and multiple drive up lanes.
Sure fried food taste great, so do donuts or any other poison one wants to put in their body... :o)

My business partner said yesterday if looks could kill laser beams would've shot out of my eyes as I sat there listening to this utter nonsense. Being an employer has turned into being a Kindergarten teacher and I don't much want to be a kindergarten teacher.
