Went looking at new Corolla's with/for a buddy. Nope, not happening.

Corollas are

I have never personally ever seen a competitively priced no haggle car dealer.
You've never taken a look at my life's work.

I look at what's available on the wholesale side of the car business at a 750 mile radius of my customer.

I find the ones with the best ownership and maintenance histories. Whatever I get, my customers know it's good for another 10 years if it's cared for properly.

Buying cars doesn't need to be a stab in the dark. If you eliminate uncertainty and provide full disclosure, everyone wins.

Aren't you worried about the cylinder deactivation?
No. Most of the issues have been addressed through software updates. Biggest issue was a stall between transitions. Haven’t had a single incident in either my Mazda 3 or CX-5. I would prefer it didn’t have it, but they all seem to now.

What's even worse, Toyota adds like $1k in crap at the port to the MSRP so you're already getting screwed before the dealer even tries to get a cut.
Southeast Toyota does this but there a master distributor franchise. When I bought in 2019 I could have driven to Virginia or Tennessee and avoided it (no master franchise).

Was actually $1600 then, but the dealer did discount it heavily (back then). I would have saved about $1000 to drive to Virginia - but decided it wasn't worth the effort - the day off plus the drive cost made it not wort it to me.

Is it everywhere now?

It's definitely in the southwest. Ashtray, phone charging cable, rear deck lid applique all at $79-$100 each. Can't remember the other junk, stuff like floor mats and cargo area containers.

The charging cables by far is one of the biggest rip offs. I still have all of them sealed up in the bag when it came with my truck.

Are you part of Gulf States Toyota - I forgot about them. They cover Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Mississippi and Louisiana.

Southeast Toyota covers FL, GA, AL, SC, NC.

I don't know if there are others.

I don't think Toyota themselves do the port install items. If they don't maybe dealers do, but again were full circle - its some version of the dealer, not the OEM.

Now a lot of OEM's - Toyota included, have pretty much ended the stripped down trims. They say no one bought them?

Goes way back when I bought my Sequoia. Dealers around me in NY only had the limited trim with bells/whistles I didn't want and tried to order SR5 as I wanted. Order got cancelled multiple times.

Fred Anderson Toyota in Raleigh had what I wanted but not color. Internet sales person answered my email said he could order as described (no one around had it). Price was $500 less than best deals around me with all discounts applied, which up here couldn't get anyway. Added bonus was they offered to take the air line ticket price off the cost of vehicle also.

Very helpful and straight information sales person (Carl Anderson). Said 12 weeks from time of order. He kept me updated when it had build date, VIN, shipping etc. Said to book plane for a week later than expected arrival date just in case.

Great experience for me after dealing with up here that couldn't make it happen. I had services performed up here and dealer asked how I got it. I gave them the full story. No issues with services, TSB, recalls getting done there.
