I leased this car just before pandemic shortages came about. Since I wasn't driving much during the pandemic, but I still went in every 6 months, oil changes were done pretty frequently early on. First oil change at 2000mi, then at 4500mi, 7800mi, 12000mi, and pretty much 10k on the nose after that. I've gone to the same dealership for all oil changes, except the most recent one I did myself. The engine has about 42600mi on it at the time of this sample. I changed the oil at 5k mi to take a sample and see how it was looking. I'd say for a 0w-16 oil it looks pretty good. Just at the minimum for a 16 weight oil, so it could have probably made it a little longer seeing as they design for 10k OCI and have more than likely studied the effects of viscosity degradation. I've read some dealerships don't use OEM oil, in this case a Toyota dealership wouldn't use TGMO. Based on the VOA I did of the replacement oil, I believe this dealership is using TGMO as the additive levels are very similar. High levels of moly and boron. Magnesium, Phosphorous, and Zinc are all spot on with the VOA. Very pleased with how this UOA looks for being my first!
