This winter won't die!

I'm so sick and tired of this winter. It's almost a month into spring and we're still contending with old man winter. Today I had to call into my job because the roads are pure ice with limited travel advised (and I travel 50 miles). Last night as I was coming home what should have been a relaxing above freezing drive became a slick, sleet-covered, below freezing nightmare. I'm about to punch out my "below 37 degrees outside freezing caution light" on my Prius. So sick of seeing it!

For the record we got 8 inches of snow last week and now we've been bombarded with another inch of snow and about 1/2" of ice/rain. It hasn't even been above freezing long enough to melt anything. Last year on March 19th (I remember it because I changed my oil due to it being so beautiful) it was 64 degrees. This year according to wunderground it was 15 degrees on March 19th.

It's not fair and I wish I could backslap the sky. I figured all this crud would clear up by now but unfortunately it looks like May at the earliest. I get depressed because in another 5 months we'll have this again! This weather is a monster. I'd take tornadoes and thunderstorms over this garbage any day!

I hear ya. It's not as bad here in chicagoland area, but we did have some snow yesterday morning. Real Spring can't come soon enough.

I agree! We are only seeing 65 degree days which sounds great until you throw in the 45 mph wind and 70 mph gusts Every day. Can't see 1/4 mile for the dust

The weather has improved here massively. Other than some rain, the temps are mostly at least into the 40s, and 50s/60s a lot of days. A lot of rain the past couple days, but the ground has been clear of snow for weeks now. Thank god, I was able to get my oil changed yesterday and get the leaves out of the flower beds

We aren't getting a lot of the snow. We are getting huge amounts of rain with temperatures in the 30s and 40s. Im done with this weather.

We've now had snow on the ground for 6 complete months. Last year at this time I already had a couple thousand miles on my Harley. I have yet to even start it.

I am happy as I had to buy a heater can for the V50 which was over £300 and it swallowed my summer tyre fund.

So I can keep my winters on a bit longer!

Our house runs on propane and we've had to pay an extra $500 for a fill that we normally wouldn't have had to. I've also had to take our 4WD on my 50 mile journeys more times than I'd care to admit. That amounts to 2.5x the fuel costs to get there.

It's real great.

My parents had me come up today to change the winter tires off of their Escape. The local meterologists said it would be 50 and sunny.


... AFter we got the second summer tire on it started accumulating snow ...

My parents have LPG for heating and it is expensive when compared to the mains stuff we get in the more built up areas.

They had no electric and hence no gas for a week recently.

Who knew that an LPG tank in the garden is useless without electricity!

We had cold weather and freezing precipitation much later this year than is typical, but it finally broke last weekend.
I washed the '12 Accord, the '99 Accord and the Forester last weekend. I also gave the '99 and oil change.
I got the BMW out of the garage and drove it to work last Wednesday, driving it home with the top down, since it got to a little over eighty that day.
We are forecast to have warm conditions this week, with rain later in the week.
I'm sorry you aren't seeing the same.
I feel your pain.

We won't even see ** 50 ** until April 23rd!!

Last year at this time I had already mowed three times. This year I doubt that I'll mow before the end of April.

Can't complain though-we need the moisture. At the beginning of winter the river a couple miles from us was so low you could walk across it without getting your ankles wet. Now it's almost bank full. Since it's been wet and cloudy the rain we get doesn't evaporate as fast as it does in the sunshine, and it's helping recharge the sub soil moisture.

Yep, we're a balmy 32 F here, too. At least it hasn't snowed over the past twenty-four hours. If you go back forty-eight hours, that's another story, though.
