Five weeks ago I witness a cat get hit by some idiot in a Camry, as he drove like a bat out of h3ll in a residential neighborhood.
She wasn't run over, but she got hit, so I took her to the veterinary hospital I take my cats to. Turns out she has a broken hip and there wasn't really much they could do about it. The vet suggested spaying her to avoid complications in case she got pregnant and I went ahead with it, as well as the usual vaccinations and antibiotics.
When I first took her in, she was literally dragging her left leg and couldn't use it at all. After going through therapy, she started touching her toes on the ground and using the leg, but it will still take a bit of time. Luckily there's no longer a need to amputate it, which was a relief.
Looking after three cats already, including a blind one, I couldn't really take a forth one in. I tried in vain during this time to see if I could find her a home, or at least a foster home until somebody would adopt her. Unfortunately I failed, and even had the displeasure of meeting shallow people who said the cat was too ugly to adopt.
Ended up making a donation to a local animal shelter/charity who took her in, and "sponsoring" her costs on a monthly basis until she gets adopted. Just hope she doesn't get ignored because of her disability or looks. Seems appearance means everything to many.
