The New Fram Ultra......

I actually really like these filters in ST and FramDrive guise. K&N uses them too and M1 used them prior to the PuroBoss switch. No issue here.

I do to and I am not at all worried about the e-core in the RP filter, the wire mesh should absorb most of the pressure from the oil flow so the e-core center should never be too stressed while in all likelihood providing much better flow characteristics. The rest of the can is built to racing specs so in reality I think this is a Royal Purple product that is totally worth the price.

...does RP mention any efficiency at all?

On RP's website they say 99% @ 25 microns and 80% @ 10 microns. When Ascent Filtration tested them the efficiency was just a split hair below the Fram Ultra so they might actually be better than what they report or perhaps the media is now the same as what the Amsoil filter uses that is rated at 99% @ 20 microns. Either way it is splitting hairs difference between it and the Fram Ultra.

Wwmay what is the efficiency of the Fram Drive filters ???

I'm guessing 95 percent at 20 microns. But that is a wag.

At least the Purolator BOSS has plastic backing for their "Smart Fusion" media (whatever that is). It seems that things are getting worse by the day now.
Purolator dropped the ball years ago. I still won't pick it up. It appears Fram might be heading in that direction too, sad. As I said I have about a 2 year supply so I can patiently sit back and wait for the pictures and commentary to come in before I jump ship, which I have no problem doing. I have brand loyalty to a point, once they screw up the brand I make a change. I have a feeling I'll be switching to Mobil 1 filters, or the next Bitog favorite after the early adopters reports start coming in on the tweaked Fram filters.

I you like the Purolator One line of filters then go right ahead, because that's what you're getting in a Mobil 1 branded box. It's not even the BOSS, lol.
Then I'll look for another..............I haven't bought filters for my vehicles in years, so I might be a bit out of the loop. I have at least two years to decide. I won't be using anything associated with Purolator, that's for sure. ;)

By the time you need filters, MANN-HUMMEL will own everything, while supplying the store brands with their "Smart Fusion" and cellulose filters. They got it all figured out and are steadily owning the market. FRAM made about the dumbest move they could have, as I don't see how filter media can survive under certain conditions and pressures without some kind of backing.

I agree it appears Fram made a stupid move, we'll see. I'll follow it, and let the early adopters report back. I have no worries there are a lot of bright and well respected members here, and I'll follow their commentary.

Fram was better in Ascent Filtration testing. Very clearly so.
Fram was 99+% at 15 micron. RP was 96+% at 15 micron. The difference is smaller at 20 micron but still there.
You can debate whether that matters, but there is a difference.

From my perspective before this change Fram owned the roost on filtration efficiency. Hands down.
And I don't see any concerns to lead me to believe it got worse...they are claiming it got better...so Fram is still my choice.

I might be one of those early adopters. I used Purolator BOSS filters, still use one, but it's got about 20 magnets on it, lol. I'm thinking FRAM Titanium. I doubt the filter media will tear up for street use.

The customer support group is only as good as the people who manage it, and are able to pass on accurate and timely information from the engineering group. Engineers are too busy making changes to the products to be working in customer support. 😄
This world isn't Utopia. You think Fram has a call center managing staff? The call center is probably one desk and whoever is around fills in answering the phone. Maybe you should apply for an upgrade to the Fram call center? You could work it from home, with engineers sending you daily reports. You would love it.

If one wants to go full personal theory, how about this. The Fram element was too heavy for the cases of tough treatment. They had to pay for at least one ruined engine due to a loose adbv. They got the three rattling Ultras from WM, but had to say everything was in spec. Of course it was, but the spec is wrong. So now they make the element lighter and no more claims and no more it's a rattler. Never heard of a TG or EG being a rattler. There's the proof of the theory. Life goes on without the mesh support. :D

Yeah, that's it ... there are no managers at Fram anymore - it's just a chaotic operation where nobody knows what's going on and nobody interfaces with anyone else in the company. You must think whoever is on their break is yelled at to answer the dusty phone in corner of the factory or man the chat desk. 😂 Up to your typical tolling self again I see.

Reaching really far now with obtuse trolling ...
